Comment:

Absolutely wonderful person, loving, caring, but can't teach to save her life. Literally didn't learn anything from her. She's disorganized and won't give clear instructions on assignments, even when asked for explicit instructions. She marks easy and is lenient when making up missed assignments but... imagine an art teacher teaching math.

Very focused and ALWAYS so prepared for class. Gives plenty of time for new material and exam review. She will spend as much time as needed to make sure every student understands, and is still efficient! Beautiful musician, professor, and human. Structure, instructions, and marking system very clear. She cares so much about every student.

Unbelievably amazing educator. Gives passion, countless hours of spare time, and extra help. Uses multiple different methods of teaching in order to reach many students' different learning styles. Gracious and open to receiving feedback. Connects music theory to important aspects of life. Uses humour, stories, and theoretical and musical examples

Loved Grace's lectures and teaching style. Especially for counterpoint. She approaches the class in a creative way and makes counterpoint fun and musical !

Comment:

Her lesson plans do not correlate well with subject matter or the material from the textbook. She makes in class notes that are a jumbled mess. Her emphasis on thinking outside of the box is so over the top that her lectures often become derailed while she becomes flustered that people aren't grasping the fundamentals of the daily topic. I agree with most of the other posts on here that Grace's tangents can be hard to follow. However, she knows her material and has a genuine passion for teaching. Engaging her in a one-on-one setting is very helpful, and she will work with you to help you grasp concepts, challenge you, and help you achieve the best mark possible in her courses.

She is miles ahead of everybody. While she is clearly a brilliant musician and theorist, the rest of us can barely keep up with her. I was able to do very well on all her assignments but her teaching didn't help me prepare and pretty much all the time I am completely lost and confused.

Grace is a wonderful teacher and lady. We're lucky to be around a mind like hers. I know people say she's confusing, but that's just cause of the tangents she goes off on. Think of them as supplemental awesomeness. Extremely caring of her students and very reasonable when it comes to testing and assignment deadlines.

She's an awesome lady, I'd rather hang out with her than have her as my teacher. So unclear about everything, goes way off topic! Not everyone has perfect pitch and understands all these tangent superfluous musical details! She needs to be more direct and concise.

She is a super nice person, but not a good teacher. Her class is disorganized and it's all over the place. It moves REALLY SLOW. I recommend her if you have no idea about music theory but if you know a little, chose someone more professional otherwise you will be losing a lot of time of your life.

Never will you meet a music prof as brilliant & eccentric as Grace. She will spin your head into a vortex of perpetual confusion and then lead you further astray while trying to bring you back again. Once she gave the class a mock midterm to study from, and a week later gave the exact copy for the actual test - AND HALF THE CLASS STILL FAILED!

Our class got to know Grace very well, and so when she was running ahead of us we could say "hey come back", & she'd revisit a concept until we understood. You need to be an interactive student; nothing will be handed to you, but you have a chance to grab for something amazing. It's an experience as a musician, not just a student. ENGAGE!!

She doesn't stick to a given curriculum and you find yourself wondering what will be on the exam. She can't apply her knowledge to her teaching. But hey, she's smart and has lots of energy....
