While this class was difficult, I loved it all the same. Professor Wood is a pretty funny guy and is really nice if you talk to him after class or in office hours. As long as you try and participate you'll get a good grade. Definitely would recommend for any Spanish class!

This is by far the hardest class I have ever taken. Nevertheless, I have grown more during the last 10 weeks than I ever thought possible. I highly recommend visiting his office hours. One day he sat with me for an hour, helping me write my paper and giving advice. His goal is to push you to become better. I have so much respect for him

I think that Dr. Wood is very intelligent. He is also an excellent prof. Noticing the other comments, the negative ones would only apply if you do not want to work hard or pay attention. What he covers is really interesting but the work load does take a toll on those who don't do their work when assigned. Just do your work and you'll be fine.

His hand writing is not good and he talks very quietly but he is a funny guy and if you are really struggling he will help you out. He just wants to help you learn how to write better.

If you wanna reach a whole new level of Spanish this is the class to take. He really helps you improve your writing, reading, and speaking skills. His class was really engaging and funny! That being said, this class's workload is very time consuming. Lots of reading and a couple essays that you revise a lot (so ultimately you get a better grade).

Prof. Wood is really unclear regarding requirements for assignments/exams, and is useless if you ask him for help outside of class. His lectures are pretty boring, he jumps around in the material seemingly at random, and he says "verdad, mhmm?" every other word, which gets really annoying really fast.

Comment:
I have taken many Spanish classes and this was by far the worst instruction I have received. I loved the material, but the instruction was horrible and very unclear. Prof. Wood said he prides himself on being the most difficult Spanish teacher on campus. Not worth all the hard work, money, or the term-long headache.

Is horrible! His lecture style is impossible to follow, he reads off a bunch of scattered pieces of papers that he holds as he walks around the classroom. It is never clear what exactly you need to know from his lectures or for the exams. The book is massive and the readings are extremely difficult and not pertinent to the tests. HORRIBLE TEACHER

He is the worst professor ever! he doesn't give clear instructions and when he fell behind the syllabus schedule he didn't clarify for us when we were to have our assignments due. He's VERY vague about explaining what will be on the tests and half way through the term he surprised us with a final exam that wasn't on the syllabus. AVOID GUY WOOD!!!!

I was very impressed by Prof. Wood's teaching skills. This is the most thorough, quality course I've ever taken. Yes, it was rigorous ad the homework was at times exhausting, but I learned so much. I felt that he cared about our improvement and gave the class everything he had to offer. He also made it easy and rewarding to participate.

A very frustrating prof! I swore I would never take his class again but ended up doing so for WIC credit. His grading is unclear and biased- if you don't think the same as him, he will mark you wrong. He is clearly very knowledgable but his grading is harsh. I've given up on thinking I could ever impress him at all.

Highly recommend taking any class with Dr. Wood! He has a traditional teaching approach and is great at pushing his students to learn and think about the material at great depth. This was my third class with him and it was a WIC course, heavy on on writing, but it's clear that he prepares a lot beforehand and does a great job of giving feedback.

He is a great professor. The class itself is difficult, and there's never a week where you don't have at least 2 assignments due. (They take some time, too). However you learn a lot, and he is really fun to listen to because of his subtle jokes. Overall a good experience. Be prepared to WORK.

Professor Wood is probably the most interesting professor I've ever had. You can never predict what he'll say to comment a literary piece, so I always went to class excited to hear him talk about it because often times he'll joke around. He's a fair grader who respects diligent students and gives hints on his tests in indirect ways to help.

He is a difficult teacher who demands a lot of work in a short period of time. The syllabus is a life saver in determining when things are due and he also likes to make sure that every day you are doing something for his class. A very difficult teacher but I also learned a ton in his class. I felt very challenged, but not too challenged.

The worst Spanish teacher I've ever had! His class is just pure boring grammar, it's more than hard and you don't learn a lot. He is really intelligent but his methods are the wrong ones. He can make you hate Spanish in one term. DO NOT take this class if you have the choice!

I learned a lot in his class, but he really didn't seem fair. He is one of those professors who makes you stress too much about passing because for some reason he only likes to give a few passing grades. I was one of the few who did well in his class, but I didn't really like his approach.
