I took her class Spring 2010. At the time, I felt that her demeanor was degrading and rude, but in all reality it was her way of motivating us to learn the material. This morning I took the OAT(optometry) & BOMBED physics, scored okay in biology/genchem, but was in the 94th percentile in OChem w/o much preparation. I have Ieva to thank! TAKE HER!

I took Ieva for 343 and 345. I loved her. She told you everything you need to know for exams and you only need to use the book for clarification. You really understand the material with her. O-chem ended up being my favorite class. Love her!

I took Ieva for both Chem 343 and 345. Her tests were hard, but fair, and she tells you what you need to know. You will leave knowing OChem so if you plan to continue with chemistry I would suggest taking her class.

Ieva has been the best professor I've had at madison. She's extremely clear and her lecture notes are easy to follow. You will work harder for her than any of your other professors to get an A (or even a B)but you will end up knowing your stuff. She was also pretty clear about which parts of the book she wants you to disregard

Ieva is interested, plain and simple. She cares about the success of her students and the integrity of the material she presents which show up in her teaching style and her availability out of the lecture hall. Her exams, while hard, are representative of lecture material. The book was necessary to cement themes approached in lecture.

Dr. Reich was an interesting professor. At first she was very bossy and sassy. However, she truly wants everyone to do well. She is a good teacher and her lectures are very representative of her tests. The people complaining about her personality obviously didn't try hard or get a good grade. Put in the effort and you will do just fine.

I had her both semesters and hated it at first. But you learn to like her. Her examples are very clear and she goes through mechanisms very well. Weekly quiz questions can be impossible sometimes, but really do help you understand material. She can talk down to you, but she does try to help. Overal good prof, and always encourages office hours.

She truly wants everyone to do as well as they can. Thursday review sessions are helpful, so attend if you can. She's sassy, which is amusing, but be prepared to be talked-down to if you ask a question. That said, she explains everything very clearly and will walk you through to an answer.

I took both 343 and 345 with Reich. She is a fantastic teacher. I was told going into O-chem that Reich will "keep me on my toes" and it is definitely true. Her exams and weekly quizzes are very fair to material covered in lecture. She calls on people in class, so pay attention! She is a great professor, TAKE HER!

Disredard those people that say she doesn't explain the reactions, they're just bitter that they didn't try hard enough to understand the ochem language. Her methods of teaching are for a reason, THEY HELP YOU. Do everything she asks, practice all book problems, and you should do just fine. She is quirky and passionate. TAKE HER!

This teacher is incredibly lucid, very helpful, and the weekly quizzes are irksome but necessary for your mastery of the material. Her intensity stems from a passion for the material, and it's infectious. You will learn. Take orgo with Reich if you want to learn Organic Chemistry.

It was definitely a tough class but if you work hard, keep up with the reading, do as many end of the chapter problems/practice quizzes/etc, you CAN get an A. Office hours are crucial too. Very time consuming, but in the end, it's worth it.

RUN AWAY! she doesnt teach as much as she rambles on about chemical reactions, doesnt teach conceptually at all. everything is memorization (which is great if you dont like chem) but seriously, if you even see her on the street, turn the other direction and run.

Not a very good professor. Very unusual teaching style that takes a while to get used to. She is a very intimidating teacher. She goes over material fairly quickly without fully explaining everything. Weekly quizzes and group problems take away a lot of lecturing time compared to other professors. I would avoid her at all costs if possible.

An excellent professor! She makes you work really hard, but it's very rewarding. Weekly quizzes are tough at times, but really prepare you for the exams. Don't be intimidated by her asking students to answer questions. It keeps the class interesting, and she helps you answer the question. Overall, she makes sure students understand O chem as a whole
