Comment:
Irene was a terrible professor but not a terrible person. She's is slightly senile and very condescending and you can't really fault her for that because she is old. Irene's specialty is interacting with old people which is a great achievement but to not be able to offer anything more than take care of the elderly to the younger generation is sad.

She was very annoying but I LEARNED NOTHING. She assigned so many journal entries and she never even explained them. She changed the syllabus every class and it never made sense. Would not take class again.

If you want a good English 101 don't take this class. It honestly feels like 3rd grade again. She is very condescending and is rude to the students she doesn't like. You have to do a journal almost every week, and a project almost every other. She will completely change the project guidelines a few days before it is due. Not worth the stress.

Would not recommend taking this class. Assigns tons of writing assignments, had to read Martin Eden and write journal entries that was due almost every class, along with a glossary for that book. We had to do four projects/papers and some of them were split into parts such as multiple assignments for one project, with journal entry for projects.

Irene likes to be called either Irene or Coach Irene. She is partially deaf so she talks really low so you won't be able to hear her. Throughout the semester she gave us over 10 projects all of which were papers. She's old so she would say one thing and then forget she said that she said something. She changed her syllabus about 10 times.

I really like Irene. She helps students improve their writing skills. She gives feedback to the student. These feedbacks help students do better on their projects. She would hold grades that aren't in good condition and give chances to improve. She is a great teacher because she supports the students and watches them grow over the semester.

She gives plenty of work so make sure that you stay on track. She's very rude to her students - intentional or not, i'm not sure. She's not very understanding, in my opinion, and I didn't like the topic of each paper. They were boring.

Gives lots of homework and completely disregards the fact that her students have other classes also with homework. Makes you do a lot of reading and be prepared to have a whole glossary section with definition words by the end of the semester along with a paper also.

This professor believes she's the only professor in the whole campus, giving tremendous amounts of homework. She's not very respectful to students, something that might have to do with her age, for she tends to ignore some students. She grades your paper, and wants you to rewrite it for a better grade when she gives multiple amounts of hw daily.

She is a really good professor, she cares or her students. She likes personal stories and how it develops our character. I personally enjoyed her class, she gives us lots of projects but they're interesting. Makes you want to work harder and better for a good grade.

She likes us to call her Irene, informality works. She cares and wants her students to take various courses and find one that leads us to do something to make the world a better place. She was a CNN Hero, so she's someone who does that, but she lets us know that writing was real important in moving forward. So she's demanding but for our own good

Prof. Zola, likes to be called Irene. She is genuine and cares a lot about improving the world and students' writing and progress. She uses her real life examples that help me to be interested in what she says, even if it's grammar. She inspired me to change my idea for a career, from police officer to journalism. Great role model!

Comment:
Professor repeatedly discusses her political views in the classroom, even though no one is interested. I felt as though I was taking a history class. You can expect to have at least two homework assignments due each class. Also, none of those homework assignments will correlate. She will not teach you much grammar, or much to help your writing.
