To me on some of her test she is completely unfair. Seems to grade on how she likes you

She is a tough teacher and expects you to keep up with her. She works off of her own notes, so pay attention. DON'T BE LATE. You will be locked out of the room, especially on test day. Grades contain lab, quizzes, reading assignments, and tests. If you don't understand something, ask her. Even through all that, I liked taking the class.

Dr. Lanza is certainly an acquired taste. Often, she comes off as crass and egotistical. I found myself asking how she arrived to specific grades on my assignments. Her grading is arbitrary, with no specific right and wrong answers. The lab made me want to die; it was the biggest waste of time. Overall, I am disappointed. I expected more.

Comment:
Dr. Lanza is inordinately rude and unhelpful. She is especially unapproachable and all of her lectures are long and boring, even for those (like myself) who are interested in biology and ecology. When asked a simple question, her response is almost always rude, belittling, and not helpful. Her grading is absolutely arbitrary; overall, poor teacher.

She gives like three test per semester. She grades really hard. And you have a a lot of 10 point assignments but you have all semester to do them. Also you will not know your grade until the end of the semester because she doesn't put in grades until the last minute

Extremely rude to students when they simply approach her to ask a question. She is very specific and makes what she wants known-which is a good thing-but it is often so complex and specific that if you are not a detail-oriented person, you will despise her.

Dr Lanza is very passionate about what she teaches, and she does want people to do well (even though it may not seem like it at the time.) she pushes her students. My advice: record the lectures and make outlines. Definitely do the outline assignment for homework. You only have to complete 10 out of the 15 or so hws, there is choice on the tests

I personally do not like her as a professor. She is extremely unorganized and I feel as though her method of grading is inconsistent. I do, however, like the format of her tests, as she give options as to what questions you can choose to answer.

Overall, not that bad of a class. Best thing to do is get on Dr. Lanza's good side. True story though, if you are a lazy person you will probably not do well in this class. Test are easy as she gives you options on what to answer. Studying is the tricky part, she provides old test, but you basically have to study everything for that test section.

Dr L is respectable and easy to talk with on any occasion or subject. Most scientists thrive on specifics and aquisition of 'the' answers. I am at a loss as to how to arrive at her answers. I usually set the curve in my classes, but we haven't been able to connect in a way where I can make that 'A.' Classes should not be this obtuse.

I ignored all of the complaints on here and assumed they all just wanted an easy "A"... This was my first B in my Biology credits.. I have 27 of them and my electives were far more complex than this class. She honestly grades on how well she likes you. Sad but true. My advice: just wait for a different teacher. Good luck no matter what though!

do the homeworks carefully, attend class, memorize the slides, and this class is a breeze. the book is almost useless if you pay attention in class, although it is well written. do not allow her to intimidate you - she is not a mean person, even if she seems like it. this is not a complicated class. ignore those who **** and moan.

She is hard, but funny, gives points for attendance (!), she's very helpful. Work hard and show that you care, ask questions! Tests are essay questions, very long and hard, but doable. Do assignments, as they worth a test grade! Take notes but definitely read the book too if you want an A. She cares about her students and has a good heart!

I hated this class!! She is very unorganized. She grades base on how well she like you. Her powerpoint are everywhere. She forgets what's she's told you and It will show up on the test. she expects you to write down every detail on her essay questions.(and she takes off for grammar) Drop the class take it from a diff teacher!!

Regardless of your knowledge base, you will never know more than she, A in your mind =s C,low B in hers. She forgets one is a STUDENT writing an essay: 2 essays, 4 short essays, and 6 short answer in 50 mins to be precise. The devil is in the details, if one has time. Don't be discouraged, such is life. It gets worse.
