Comment:

Mr. McCafferty is an excellent educator when it comes to ceramics. He was present through most of the time in class, and helped me understand how to do most of the projects required. His classroom is relaxing and his teacher assistant, Barbra, is humorus and is also very helpful. Definitely recommend for people looking for an art class. Easy A.

Comment:

Super easy class. Just show up and participate and he will give you a good grade. I had him on his Wednesday only class at night, but I also went in on his Monday night class too and he takes notice of active participation. Super relaxed environment to wind down in after a long day, and there's loads of help from the other older students.

His class was fairly simple, although he does require you to go to a museum at the end and write about an art piece. We also had to create a food project which was fun. Can seem intimidating but is very polite and friendly. Tests were fairly simple and ALL open book. At least skim the reading if you plan on doing well!

We never have open book exams (Art appreciation). We have to study just like in every other class. He was also my Ceramics professor, and I highly recommend Ceramics, you learn things about yourself, your abilities, creation in the making. I think he is an amazing person, I never felt so peaceful and relax in class. He cares about all his students

He is a really cool guy. The only problem that I had were the test. At the end of each chapter he makes us take a test. Test are open book, and each chapter is about 15 pages and if you don't read before taking the test it's really difficult when taking the test. I drop his class because I wasn't getting good grades. Other than that he's fine.

Jay is a beautiful, beautiful soul. He is so kind and has a passion for art and a desire to teach others. He encourages all his students to create pieces and find the beauty in them, even when these pieces don't come out as planned (which is almost always). I HIGHLY recommend him.

Mr. Mccafferty is great! I really enjoyed his class (for the most part). He's a very relaxed guy. Sometimes a little too relaxed. Like, sometimes he would talk reallly low and/or mumble. But he's still a really cool professor.

Jay is such a sweet, laid back professor. You can see the genuine interest he has in his students and how we really wants you to love art as much as he does. I would totally take him again if I could. I have an A+ in the class and have really learned to appreciate Art!

WOW. He is amazing. I am a nursing student and have no background in art. I have told myself I suck at that kind of stuff my entire life. But man, he really nurtures people's artistic potential. He is extremely encouraging, and gives you tons of freedom to grow on your own. I really thought I wasn't an art person, but I LOVE ceramics now.

Prof. Jay is thee coolest professor at LAHC! His test's are easy & he makes the class fun, enjoyable, and it is a great learning experience. Never truly thought I was interested in Art. But his class and teaching brought all that I had been storing in my mind together and gave it a name, and history. I found that I am a true Art lover and am hungry for anything I can go see! Be it t.v. locally, newspapers. His class turned me into a sponge ready to soak up the art world. Great.
