Comment:
Dr. Thornsberry is in the nicest way possible a horrible teacher. He teaches by reading off a powerpoint, things that he never brought up will show up on the exams. He has a few things of homework that get put in the grade book so that the only thing that goes towards your grade is not just exams. Other than that 0/10 would not recommend. Good luck

If you need to take a lower-level biology course, I would recommend avoiding Dr. Thornsberry at all costs. It is very clear by his monotonous tone that he is bored by his own lectures. He just sits at the front of the lecture hall and reads his PowerPoint slides (too quickly). I've heard he is more engaging with his upper-level sections, though.

Pretty difficult class, but Dr. Thornsberry was/is one of the best prof I've had at NW. If a significant portion of our class missed a given question on a test he'd do his best to give back a portion of the points as an indication that he may not have done a fair job teaching the material. Overall, great teacher given the difficult subject matter

The only thing you get a grade for in this class are the tests. This was the hardest class I've ever taken! He strays away from the syllabus, too. His lectures are very very boring. I went to study sessions every week, and studied a lot. I ended up with a C! That is the worst grade I've ever gotten and I'm in dental hygiene school. He is the worst.

Great professor, but terrible class. The exams are half multiple choice and the other half is writing. Make sure you know all the steps/vocab and everything Genetics based in and out. Hard grader. Always in office. And wants his students to try their best.

Dr. Thornsberry is a great teacher and yes his class is difficult but honestly what Biology class isnt? He really cares about his students and is very understanding. Hate science and had to study quite a bit but very lucky to have him as my professor!

He veered way off the syllabus which then took us away from the textbook material. Very hard tests, but he makes his lectures interesting during class, well as interesting as Bio can be.

Dr. Thornsberry's a very nice guy. Despite getting a D in his class, I put no blame on him for it (though he didn't curve the final...). I did have trouble paying attention and staying awake in his class almost every day, so get some caffeine before attending class. Overall good professor.

I HATE biology and avoided it throughout highschool. Dr. Thornsberry made the class enjoyable and understandable. He is very clear in his lectures and is willing to go over information again if necessary. Tries his best to make a gen ed easy and relatable. Uses powerpoint lectures which are useful study tools and for note taking. Good professor.

You WILL learn a lot in this class; there's a lot of very detailed material. He's a great teacher, but definitely wants you to know everything, so you really have to put in a lot of effort. DO the study guides, the tests pretty much come straight from them. Make sure you can map out processes (like translation) spontaneously. Hard but fun class :].

Dr.Thornsberry is a good teacher. His class is pretty hard and he talks kinda fast. However, he gives extra credit. Also, all the tests are multiple choice and he gives you an outline. I would highly recommend making a study guide from his outline!!

Dr. Thornsberry is very intelligent. I took his gen. bio class. His class was not very difficult, but it did require you to study if you wanted a decent grade. GO TO THE SIs. They are very helpful!

Dr. Thornsberry is fantastic. The material he teaches is difficult to start with but he's patient with his students. He provides detailed study guides and holds review sessions before tests. His tests come strait from the study guides and review session....no suprises! He's very receptive and open to students. Very easy to talk to.

Dr. Thornsberry is a good teacher. He puts his lectures up on ecompanion, PRINT THEM OFF and take them to class. He moves very fast in lecture. If you don't understand things you should use his office hours. He is a more friendlier person in his office. His tests are hard but if you study they aren't bad. Go to the SI sessions.

Very nice person. Will help you with any questions about anything science related, does not even have to be related to the current topic. Sometimes gives broad topics for essays to push students. Tests are moderately difficult although there are rarely any surprises. Very helpful during class time or even outside of class. Honestly cares.

He teaches freshmen and sophomores like he's teaching a graduate course. His test are very technical and extremely challenging. He emailed us a four-page study guide for our next to last test, and after taking hours to fill it out in detail, only two questions were listed on the study guide. He has a really rude attitude also, and isn't helpful.

Dr. Thornsberry is a great teacher who knows what he is talking about. His class may seem difficult to those who do not like Biology, but he makes it easy to understand and if you dont, he will stop the class to make sure you do. Make sure to print off the powerpoints, because he moves along fast in class with his lectures.

Extremely hard test with random, detailed questions which are typically not found on the study guide, which renders the study guide basically useless!
