Dr. Nielson is one of the best professors I have had at BYU. Her class is not an easy A, but you seriously learn this stuff so well in her class. When I was studying for the MCAT I didn't review Ochem ever and I RARELY missed Ochem related questions. If you are taking the MCAT, I can't recommend her class enough.

Dr. Nielson is a great person that loves her students. That being said, there is no possible way to prepare for her exams. Studying from the book, reviewing her lectures, attending office hours, and going to T.A reviews is not enough. The is nothing on the tests that you're familiar with; 25 multiple choice questions and 10ish long responses.

Dr. Nielson is the best professor I have had at BYU! She is amazing and really loves Chemistry. She teaches in a way that helps you understand the principles instead of memorizing reactions! She helps students get excited about what most say is a boring class. She is very kind and willing to work with students. TAKE IT FROM HER!!!!

Dr. Nielson is one of my favorite teachers I have had at BYU. She is inspiring and loves chemistry and KNOWS HER STUFF. Never have I had a question at which should couldn't answer. She expects you to know the material (not just memorize) and her tests are not easy, but she teaches you how to succeed and wants all of her student to learn and excel.

Organic Chemistry demands time, diligence, and persistence. Despite the bad reputation, this class can be overcome with the help of amazing teachers like Professor Nielson. Radiating love for chemistry and students, she inspires every student to achieve their full potential and master the material. If you choose to succeed and put in the work, you

She is by far hardest organic chemistry teacher at BYU. Awesome teacher, but her tests are way too hard. Also, she leaves the cut off for an A in her class at a 94%, while other organic chemistry professors have theirs around a 90%. I would avoid her and take from someone else.

Dr. Nielson is amazing in every way! She's the best at explaining concepts and is so receptive to questions you have about the material. You have to put in the work, as you do in any O-Chem class. She tries not to overwhelm you though. If you're taking 352 from her and didn't take 351 from her, make sure to touch up on molecular orbital theory.

I've taken 3 classes from Dr. Nielson and she's a fantastic teacher. O Chem is going to be really hard no matter who you take it from, but Dr. Nielson taught in a way that everything made sense. She's great at answering questions in class and she's fairly accessible outside of class. I highly recommend.

Dr. Nielsen is the ONLY way to do Ochem at BYU. Her lectures are engaging, her tests are perfectly predictable (if you do the optional homework problems and practice exams), quizzes every week can buffer your grade. She cares about each student, remembers names, office hours are awesome. Enthusiasm is contagious. Take from her or dont take at all.

Great teacher. There is a lot of material, but she is very clear about you need to know for the tests. Her lectures are engaging and helpful, if you do the readings. There are quizzes every week and exams every 3 weeks, so you can't fall behind on material if you want to do well. Definitely a hard class, but I'm glad I took it from Nielson.

I loved the material that we learned in Organic Chemistry. I took both parts from Dr. Nielson. She cares for her students and wishes them all success. The Class itself presents the material in a way that is so difficult, especially on exams

O-Chem is crazy hard no matter what, however Dr. Nielson is a great prof. She really cares about her students and their success. She will always be willing to work with you, and help you figure out the best way to succeed in the class. I wish I would have gone to her office hours earlier in the semester to get help. After i did my scores went up

Absolutely amazing. I had her for Ochem 1 and 2, and Chem105. She explains concepts perfectly, tests are hard but manageable. She is willing to work with you and give points back on exams if you were graded to harshly. Remembers everyone's name. I wouldn't take chemistry from anyone but her! Ochem is hard, but she makes it manageable and fun!

Dr. Nielson is incredible. Very lively. Her passion for O chem is contagious. I seriously love O chem because of her. I'm genuinely sad that I only have a month left of 352. I gave her a 4 because ANY o chem class deserves a 5 in difficulty. She makes it doable so long as you attend lecture and read the book before each class. TAKE HER.

TAKE O CHEM FROM DR. NIELSON! She's seriously so cool and really is passionate about chemistry. O chem is just tough, friends, but it at least will be pretty enjoyable with Dr. Nielson. She has a fiery personality and I will DEFINITELY be taking the second half of o chem from her. Tests are SO hard but doable.

Dr. Nielson is a wonderful professor. I had her years ago for Chem 106 and OChem and absolutely loved her. She explains the material in a clear way and seems passionate about what she teaches as well as helping students succeed. She was by far the best Chemistry teacher I ever had and one of my top professors overall in a science-heavy major.

Nielson's great and she's certainly not any more difficult than any other Chem professor; 105 is just naturally tough. Take advantage of her office hours, she's very accommodating and friendly. Ask questions, stay on top of things, and you'll be okay.

Really great teacher, made me fall in love with organic chemistry and almost change my major! Just go to lectures and do the homework and you'll be fine. Don't listen to the horror stories that others pass around. Organic chemistry could be a very fine learning experience.

Dr. Nielson is the best. The book was a great tool, but I found that everything you need to know is taught in the lectures. The homework was a beast, but optional. You can do as little or as much as you need to in order to master the subject. OChem is a difficult class, but her expectations are clear. Quizzes almost every Wed. Great class.
