Comment:

Principles of Physics II Lab Spring 19. Professor Zou goes into great detail before each lab and really makes sure everyone understands the lab instructions. If the lab is taking a disproportionate amount of time for most groups she accepted just the completed work for a full grade. The two full lab write ups were graded leniently.

Comment:

Love this lady. She was very nice and very willing to help when needed. The class was graded on a curve and all the test were as well. She goes fast when she does her lectures but she is always willing to meet with you after class or during office hours. She made me enjoy physics.

Super nice professor and genuinely cares about her students. Isn't afraid to have a bit of fun in class. Physics is a hard subject but if you're willing to put in the work she'll help you through.

-Explains lectures in great detail leading her to take for ever on examples -4 exams (FINAL is comprehensive 30 ?'s) Usually 17 ?'s ALL M/C-gives study guides -Lots of HW w/ using MasteringPhysics -Drops 2 HW's & 1 exam -Exams are a bit tricky -Her slides don't have much notes, so you really need to take very well notes to use for later

Dr. Zou is the most competent and organized person I can think of here at EIU. She is accessible outside of class, although she can be intimidating at first. Do not come to her with half-baked questions! She wants you to think critically on your own. However, if you are stumped on something, she is happy to help you through it.

Dr. Zou is really nice and explains the topics really well and thoroughly. All of the quizzes and tests are multiple choice, no short answer and she curves then all. Her lab section has no tests, quizzes, or final exam. She gives PowerPoint slides so you don't need to go to the lecture but it helps. Keep up with homework and you'll do fine.

I took two classes with Dr Zou. She is a great professor and willing to help. If you have problems make sure you have at least tried to look at it first. If not she is less forgiving about telling you how you've done things wrong. English is very good but the accent will get you. Lectures are fast so pay attention in class. Pwr points can be DL'd.

Dr. Zou does not make her class easy, but before you panic and choose a different professor, let me tell you: Don't. Dr. Zou runs a tough classroom, but I learned so much in her class. The material is tough, but for those who put forth an honest effort, she is very willing to pull out all the stops to help. She'll walk you through it step by step.

Comment:

I've had Dr. Zou and liked her, but this seminar class, while very useful, was a bit too much work for a 1-credit hour. I think she was given the opportunity to teach a seminar class and got overexcited and thought six speeches and three papers was a good plan. However, I DO feel more comfortable writing and presenting in a scientific atmosphere.

Comment:

Very easy. She gives four tests in the class, dropping the lowest. Each test has a bonus question usually worth about 20-25% of the test value. She has an accent, but somehow she's extremely easy to understand. She communicated information very well. Overall, she's fairly easy and she really teaches well.

She's crazy. Her class is easy if you go everyday and listen and read the notes..if you can BARE the pain. If you're a CDS major you're stuck with her. She's very nice though, but a little rough on the English.

i had a lot of trouble in this class. Im not very good at physics, but I thought it was boring. The power points were dull and the lecture was too. I didn't really get much out of it, but she is a nice person so its not a total loss
