Comment:

Isbell was a good professor. Very funny, and encourages critical thinking. He does not like if people are not paying attention and is big on no phone policy. Had him at SCC for intercession and wrote about 8 essays in one month. Challenging, but not terrible. The ones who don't like him are most likely young freshman not used to thinking.

ok he sucks. he is horrible and he makes you write about eight essays, and never gets to grading them. he is ridiculous and 75% of my class falied. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER

person below me must have been in my class. Isbell is a good professor, but never handed back any papers. By june, he still only had 25% of our papers graded. Not okay. He also WILL drop you if you miss more than four classes. He's anal about format and requires note copies and source copies for his research paper. He obviously misses Chapman.

Doesn't work at Chapman anymore. Probably the worst professor I have ever had. Doesn't return assignments that need to be re-written. No feedback. Thinks he is hilarious. He is a good guy but a really good professor.

I have no idea what everyone is raving about. I had him freshmen year, and I HATED his class. it was seriously boring, the essays were pointless, class time was wasted going over the same stuff again and again and he placed way too much emphasis upon attendance!

jim truly cares about each of his students progress in his class, as well as their outside of class activities. he is very passonate about his teaching which makes everyone excited about the class even if you hate english. class partisipation is helpful.

Jim Isbell was my favorite english teacher of all time! His assignments were fun, he truly cared about each student, thE discussions were always great and he's always there to help you in your writing process... TAKE THIS TEACHER AND YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!
