Comment:

Jim is very knowledgeable about databases. He is friendly and tries to help his students succeed. However, I personally have gained nothing from his lectures over the past 3 semesters, instead relying on the book. His lectures last far too long and cover far more than is needed for the assignments, leaving me confused from all the irrelevant info .

Jim certainly is knowledgeable about the subject matter, but he's a good teacher. He reads off the pre-made book powerpoints and goes off on tangents often. He doesn't actually grade assignments, I've submitted obviously wrong answers and he simply gives full credit regardless. I'm seeing many good past reviews, but he seems to have gotten lazy.

This was a really good class overall. The curriculum was great and the teacher didnt over assign homework. The textbook is a keeper and would be extremely useful as a reference for any kind of development project in the future.

Good useful information taught. The teacher was very nice and was very knowledgeable. Overall, the book was really good. Great use of VM environments with students. I felt the final assignment was a little too lengthy and worth too many points.

Very Informational, He knows what he is talking about so PAY ATTENTION!!! He is a great teacher, Loves to reference the 3 stooges, but, if you can get past that you will live. His idea of class and grading is not that you have the right answer... but more of that you leave the class and have learned something...

The teacher was helpful and knowledgeable. The material seemed to be overkill for the programmer audience. This class seemed to be made more for inspiring DB administrators. There seems to be an excessive amount of work for a 3 credit class. Maybe it should be upped to 4 credits.

He knows his stuff and you will too if you pay attention. Jim is full of life experience and tells the stories with enough humor to keep you captivated. He teaches because he wants to help students and because he's good at it. Anyone wanting to learn anything database is lucky to get Jim as an instructor.

Great instructor! If you're willing to learn & put in the effort, he's eager to teach! Always willing to help as long as you're not one of the people that says you've missed 5 of the 7 classes because your grandmother died for the 5th time.

Comment:

This teacher is a blessing, goes over things to make sure you know them very clearly. Best of all he goes over test answers BEFORE you take the test...RIGHT before you take the test. A great guy with great stories also, highly recommended.
