Comment:

I started out hating jazz music but it is through her class, I started to love the genre of music and have a better appreciation for music and for Christian music (now as I am studying shape note singing for her winter quarter). I highly recommended Marla for all of you that are seeking to learn what music really means and why it matters.

While she is a great professor with her openness to students as well as her expected knowledge and expertise on theatre she utterly fails on certain sociopolitical spheres so just grit your teeth and you will otherwise pass her class.

Comment:

Marla was pleasant! The Authentic Self program was a a living, walking container for Gestalt psychology. Marla led lots of theatre and singing exercises. Marcela was the other professor in this program, and I felt they both did a great job making the class comfortable with experimenting with theatrical models an exploring our inner selves. Fun.

Marla helped pull this class together. In the opinions of most of my fellow students, had she directed this program, it would have been much, much better. Her contribution as a faculty member was essential, needed, and ultimately rewarding for all involved. I will actively seek her as a faculty member in all future courses at Evergreen

Marla is an amazing choir leader. Very sweet and allows each student to reach their potential while fusing all the students together as a cohesive group. The end product was amazing.

Entertaining and warm hearted. Good at what she does. A little ideologically driven, but that is true of other teachers at this college; not all, but some. If seeking strong academic learning, better that she team teaches with those academically stronger. Then she is a rich and rewarding experience for students.

Marla is amazing! She wants to learn from her students as well as teach. Besides being great at what she does and having a fully competent understanding of her subject area, she is hilarious and fun and actually takes interest and encourages students.

marla is an entertainer, you will not be bored in class! her classes are not as academic challenging (which can balance well with another faculty who is), but artistically challenging (she'll get you out of your comfort zone)
