Great professor, though I wish her lectures weren't just her talking. You really have to take notes during class otherwise there's no way to get an A. You can do well just using the textbook and extra credit but some things from the lectures are on the test. She is a nice person, grades fairly, and gives a lot of extra credit!!!

Dr Kuchner is a very sweet woman, but goodness she talks too much. The textbook was expensive and we barely used it. She rambles on about the topics and goes off on unrelated tangents. Plenty of extra credit opportunities, multiple choice exams, sporadic attendance taken. Personally didn't enjoy it, but if you like the topic then go for it.

Too much work. Required to go to preschool(9am) to observe 8 kids for 1st assignment and write a report.next, kids/adults observation(2hrs) and write APA 10 pg paper based on your OBSERVATION. Lecture is disorganized and i cant follow.Midterm is okay, but the APA paper counts 40% of grade. extracredit papers available.Just too much work

she is SO boring. her lectures seem like the last forever and she repeats herself constantly. sometimes shes even rude when someone asks a question. the term paper directions are about 8 pages long and it gets very confusing. I would definitely not suggest taking a class with her.

She loves what she does and the class is not hard. It's just annoying b/c there's no slides or anything she expects you to write down everything she says and its all on the test. I barely go to class though and I did well on the test just by studying the textbook along with her test outline. The paper wasn't as bad as I thought it would be either.

This was an interesting class. I enjoyed this class a lot and it was very easy as long as you took notes in class! Most of the test questions came from notes. So as long as you go to lecture and listen you will do fine. Easy A. Plenty of extra credit opportunities!

Dr. Kuchner is a very nice woman. She is very willing to help you during her office hourse. Very easy to approach. The class wasn't very difficult but you do need to understand the concepts in order to answer her test questions, and she gives plenty of extra credit opportunities so take advantage of it!!!

didn't like her! the last few comments say it all! most of all her papers are horrible as well as her grading system. she grades harder than any professor I have ever had! The only good thing that will allow you to get a decent grade is that she gives review sheets for the tests and gives extra credit opportunities. most of all take good notes!

OKAY....I will TRY to be brief... dont take 322 and 321 together because life will be way difficult for you! 321 is hard....all her papers are detailed, she wants so much from ppl and writes the directions so long that it actually makes it more confusing for us...I just dont think if its necessary, just let it be...but she is a smart woman!!!!!

Disorganized, always late, and unprepared. We have not even gotten halfway through the syllabus and there are only 3 classes left. I feel like I learned nothing. Don't reccomend, but if you do take her: take REALLY good notes on whatever she says in class b/c it's all on the exam.

Insanely boring all of the time. Seems nice but doesn't like to be proven wrong. Terribly unorganized. Grades are completely made up. Time and effort spent working on term papers was a complete waste because she takes off points randomly without any reasoning. When students ask her questions about grades she gets defensive. Extremely disappointed.

She does not like when students point out she made a mistake..even if its on your test or paper. The class can sometimes be tedious and boring. Overall, she is a decent professor. Take it if you need it.

I took this last semester, and it was fun. You should sit in the front cause she talks a little low, also she will remeber you, and that could mean possible extra points if you are falling behind. Study your notes!!! Just skim through the readings, but make sure you know your definitions like the palm of your hand.

wonderful lady, she's very willing to work with u and help u out if u take the first step and ask. lectures are a lot of fun in the beginning, she tries to bring props to help keep the fun. none of the work is very hard. I hated going to observe though, it took too much time. other than that shes awesome.

She's such a kind lady. Very helpful and understanding. The class is really easy, esp if you have some vague background in psychology. Study the notes, I don't believe the textbook is necessary. Lectures tend to drift off and be boring, but if you pay attention, you're guaranteed to reap the benifits of her notes and do well for the semester.

I only took one of her classes, but i'm taking another one next semester. Sometimes she can be incredibly boring, but she knows what she's talking about. Study your notes like crazy & you will do well. It take effort to get an A in the class. It's not some class that is a joke. She's the nicest professor i've ever met & very easy to approach.

OMG i hate all of kuchners classes! the papers are the hardest i have ever had in my life. They are on rediculous topics that are hard to find references for and they take a long long time to do. there are field trips which are also annoying cause they are very boring, the classes are fine and shes a nice lady willing to help u out but all her classes are pretty hard. The exams are ok but the papers are what kill it

I loved Dr. Kuchner, I never minded going to class because you can tell she's interested in what she teaches and tries to get everyone else interested too...I love her teaching style and as long as you take notes the tests are easy to do well on...the papers are long, yes, but she is a very fair grader and doesn't mind being approached with problems. Dr. Kuchner is probably one of the best at Stony Brook, and one of the most open minded.
