I took her class 20 some years ago at ODU. Fabulous professor... the best I had in college, law school or grad school. Smart, funny, caring, and very fair. Yes, she is tough, but she makes learning enjoyable. Prepare to work hard, but its worth ever minute.

I had her 20yrs ago - she's awesome and taught me how to write. Totally non-judgmental, wanted her kids to do their best and not be slackers, and a tough teacher. Always available to assist kids, too. She took a bright and conservative-minded guy, who looked like a dead-head hippy, and helped turn me into a spec ed teacher.

I had Dr. Supplee for 4 courses, if I remember correctly. She taught me to think and how to build an argument. You see History is all about perspective and finding yours and being able to argue what you believe in. I am a certified History teacher because of this professor.

Exams are primarily essay. She gives you a list of half a dozen or so possible topics based on the lectures and a couple of them will appear on the exam, plus one shorter surprise topic essay based on the readings.

All topics are presented from a feminist perspective - decides your grade early on according to personal agenda. Women do better than men in this class. I was a graduate assistant a few years ago so I know.

She knows everything about Latin America and will try to teach you the history of all of LA since the beginning of time--very difficult. You have to read and study a lot. It's interesting though, so if you have the time and ambition, may be worth it.

Oh Lord have mercy, this class is hard as crap. Take it if you're interested in LA studies. She's great if you are. If you're not, RUN AWAY QUICKLY AND NEVER LOOK BACK. This class will let you know if you're stupid or not.
