I genuinely enjoyed this class despite the challenge it posed. Remarkably interesting content. The readings are long and dense, but the lectures help clarify things. Sit towards the front of the room if possible-- quiet voice, but def worth hearing what he has to say. Fair grader. Works with students to find what works (he dropped our pop quizzes).

He is very enthusiastic and professional in his field. He is very knowledgeable. Beware of his quizzes and tests as they are memorization heavy.

You have to read the books he requires you to read or you will fail the class. You take your own notes. His quizzes are hard, his tests are okay.

Nice/ cool guy and is very approachable. However, HORRIBLE teaching methods. So boring and uninteresting, he has a soothing monotone voice that instantly puts you to sleep. I do not recommend any of his classes unless necessary

This class was all about Native Americans and with his soothing voice, it was a complete snooze-fest. I would not consider EVER taking another one of his classes again... always dreadful and watching the clock continuously. Good luck if you get the chance to have him, enjoy.

Great teacher - very open and fair. A lot is expected from his 100 level class, but as long as the reading is done and done thoroughly, things sort of work themselves out. Not to mention he's a hunk. Damn.

Comment:
Great teacher... articulate and extremely knowledgeable. If you are interested in the class, you will do well. But you have to attend class, participate, and read assignments to achieve a good grade. He wants his students to think about the world and have an open mind. Very liberal class. Worth taking if a tea party supporter!

If you're not very motivated, don't take this class at 8am... Take it when you will be awake and willing to participate and it will be incredible. An open mind and willingness to read what is assigned will ensure success.

Good class, prof is knowledgable, but he kinda speaks in a low drone when he speaks. Rather sleep inducing, even when you want to pay attention.

Any prof that agrees to meet you at the bar, is good with me. JB is a good guy with a great brain. You can learn a lot, but listen close -- he's a low-talker. Ask him how to make a Green Goblin.
