My only non-thesis class with him was classical physics which was dry but incredibly informative and useful. As a thesis adviser John was exceptional and a brilliant experimentalist. I wish I had J Lab with him!

Great job teaching the class, was extremely clear and helpful and really easy going. To be honest though, he may have been a bit easier than I had wanted, since at times it felt like I wasn't getting as much out of the class. But his notes in the class were great and his problem sets were actually interesting to do. very good

Speaks in a very dull monotone, makes you want to sleep. Examples are not very helpful, and that's pretty much all there is. I took this class in 03' - 04' and it has been restructured since, so maybe it's better, I really don't know

John is not very animated, which makes 10am lecture sort of a chore. He doesn't explain things as well as I would like, and he's really terrible at answering good questions.
