Dr. Gaynor is the best! He really wants his students to learn and he makes jokes through out the class. If you ever have a topic you are struggling with he is very willing to help you out. His lectures a great and very informative. I would highly recommend him as a professor!

Dr. Gaynor is great don't get me wrong, but I literally fell asleep in all of his lectures. He does tell really good stories and explains the material well though. He also puts his power points online and gives you study guides, sample quizzes and problem sets, but the questions are a bit tricky. You just have to put in the time to study.

Very kind and fair professor! One of my favorite courses with him. Goes over concepts in lecture with PP and cool stories, and gives clear study guide for test that you must look over and make sure you cover EVERY topic in it to do well on exams. Quizzes are from lecture, and lab projects simple just don't leave them for last minute.

Great professor where you can reach him outside of class. There is a study guide for all his 3 exams and the 3rd exam is not cumulative!! He also reviews for his quizzes a class before. Took him for genetics and the way he presents the information is very interesting.

Love love Dr. Gaynor!! He cares a lot about his students. 3 exams, 3 quizzes that count as one exam, and few assignments ( helpt to boost your overall grade). Genetics is a tough subject so be prepared to study in advance and make sure you go over the STUDY GUIDE. Also, he's very approachable outside of class for any help!!

I have taken a total of four classes with Dr. Gaynor and I can say he is my favorite prof He's very fair and will test you upon concepts he tells you to know; those saying he's a poor prof did not study. Very agreeable and approachable for help after class and during off hours. Has great science related stories that keep the class entertaining!!!

Best professor I've ever had! not only is he very passionate about what he teaches but he goes out of his way to make sure students understand. He gives you great supplemental help and truly cares about his students passing. Those who have written negative comments obviously are too lazy!

He is an extremely helpful and cares a lot about his students. He is very clear and makes everything he teaches way easier than what you expect it to be. I enjoyed the class and learned more than with any other professor. Highly recommend this class

Really great teacher! Always very approachable outside of class. I was nervous about genetics because you always hear how difficult it is, I did well and really enjoyed it. Except the drosophilia lab, that's terrible, not really his fault though.

I am an excellent student, my GPA is high and I'm a junior. I had high hopes for this class but Prof Gaynor is terrible!!!! My advice to you, if you take this class, be prepared to fail unless you find a way to cheat. I don't care how smart you are. He will destroy you because he makes it impossible to do well unless you are a mind reader.

This professor is nice but has ruined my passion for genetics. In my other college I had a great experience with it and wanted to learn more but this is the worst professor and makes me want to run from the subject. He is lazy all tests are tricky multiple choice for his ease of grading. We only pipette in lab, nothing else. No learning here.

Doesn't assign homework so there is no studying outside of reading notes. Doesn't tell you what you got wrong on quizzes so can't learn that way either. Purposely tries to trick you and admits it. Has a weird obsession with statistics. The book only has even answers so can't learn from problems in there. Doesn't teach just talks. Don't take him.

It's a rough start and my opinion is that this guy is there just for the grant money. he's not a true teacher. he likes the subject and seems passionate but doesn't know how to explain it. It's the first week and he's already cancelled all classes but one with a sub where we will watch a movie. I just don't feel like he is good at teaching.

I've only had one class with this guy and I am ready to switch professors. He spent the entire class talking about himself and told us his first genetics professor babbled and never explained details and he wouldn't do that to us as well, but then he gave us really hard homework and said sorry we ran out of time so he couldn't explain it.

You must attend every single class and pay attention to what he says. Not only do you need to know the material, you need to know it well his questions are never straightforward and he will always ask them in a practical context.

DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! His tests are nothing like the lecture, he really doesn't prepare you for the exams. He doesn't hand back homework, and most people do not do well. AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!

He is a professor who lives on obscure questions. Most of the questions he has on his exams are basically pulled out of his pocket. He s a genuinely nice professor, but incredibly impatient and one of the less popular professors at MSU.

ok let me start by saying this guy is total idiot.. not only does he not return any of the assignments he made us do..his tests are barely relevant to his exams..he claims he wants everyone to do well yet the averages were low on the exams ..DO NOT TAKE him even if u have to stay an extra semester not worth ruining your gpa over taking him..

If you are going to take him, ignore lecture, and find another teacher. His lectures are not on the exam (rarely). He pulls questions outside of lecture and the book. Be prepared to try to predict questions from nowhere. And anything he says is not important or is nonchalant about is very important and most likely on the exam. Be warned!
