Comment:

Tough teacher. Isn't clear in her communication even though she teaches "communications". I got an A in all of my other courses except for this one and consider myself a student that is "on top" of things. She's a tough grader and will nitpick through your work. This is the first professor I've ever felt the need to actually leave a review for.

Comment:

If you have the chance to take any other business communication professor at The University of Memphis, do so. Tests are inly worth 15% of your grade, which in my opinion is a waste of time to study for them because of how difficult they were. Did not receive a 100% on any activity, quiz, or group assignment all semester. Take someone else!!!!!

Do NOT i repeat don't take this woman she is horrible with communicating and has the worst attitude she doesn't explain work and if you have a question she lead you into her bad examples on ecourseware she take off for the smallest thing, don't waist your time if you not on top of assignments you will fail.

Lectures are vague, and she likes to go off on a tangent. We did not ever walk away from a lecture knowing what she wanted us to know. Exams are just as vague as the lectures. Tough grader on assignments.

The tests are impossible. She doesn't explain the assignments very well. She deducts points off for leaving and enter late or early. Also she has an attitude.

I took this class online. Should put in ecourseware that our exam was due the day after it was ACTUALLY due so a bunch of people missed it. She wouldn't accept responsibility for her mistake. Worse professor I've ever had.

Dr. Davis knows a whole lot about the subject. Honestly, I learned a lot this semester that I know will help me in the Future. HOWEVER, it is absolutely impossible to get a good grade on the assignments. She grades based on the written rules of the assignment PLUS tiny, very specific details she mentions in class.

Unfortunately, Dr. Davis grades the majority of classwork based on the format of the assignment. We were required to complete a research paper for her course - when I got the paper back, not a SINGLE comment was made about the content. Points lost and feedback was on the APA format only, which is disappointing. This didn't make me a better writer.

She's a good teacher and knows what she's talking about, but she is often vague and doesn't tell you what she really wants on assignments. Do not take her unless you are willing to go to every class and do all of the work.

Assignment instructions are vague, she nit picks everything you do. She gives you examples for what she wants but then tells you that you still didn't provide her with what she wanted. By far the worst teacher I have ever had. Her tests are essay form and she is vague on what is on the test.

Assignments were often unclear and confusing, grading was harsh, and she did not care whether or not students learned the materials. When confused, she instructs students to "read the book", yet her lectures do not reflect the books context. Save yourself, select a different instructor if available.

GREAT TEACHER! Be sure to follow her clear-cut instructions for Business Communications. Highlight every piece of instruction for each assignment. Stay on top of the assignments. Write concisely in her class. No fluff writing, or you will lose points. She may seem harsh in the beginning, but she is very understanding if she sees you are trying.

Dr. Davis was very clear on her expectations and an extremely interesting instructor. Her in-class "games" were fun and informative. Her tests are tough and her projects are listed in the syllabus. She expects you to know when something is due and to turn it in. She is not your mommy so don't expect her to act like it and remind you about work.

Comment:

Group work is a significant portion of your grade. It's quite unfortunate. The tests are very difficult and the answers are convoluted. She does not seem to be in touch with her students, and often does not reply to emails. Clearer instructions would be appreciated.

Dr. Davis wants the best of you and she is willing to go to any lengths to get it. Follow the directions on assignments. Lots of work but it will help you be a better communicator. You earn your grade and when you pass it will build self - confidence. Thank you Dr. Davis for pushing me to be the best me I can be.

Comment:

One of my worst teachers at the university. Overloads you work. Assignments are extremely confusing and unclear. Even with snow days and spring break she gave us absolutely no leeway and we had over 5 assignments due in one week. Do not take!!!

She is very helpful if you ask, but if not the assignments are really vague. I took this in the summer and it was kind of intense! Lots of writing! Tests are different then most tests I have taken a lot of true/false with tricky wording. She does offer extra credit. The oral presentation sucks if you get nervous, and she wants to video tape them!

The main problem I had was she'd tell us about an assignment to turn in the drop box, but closer to the due date would add more work and details! The ONLY lecture was the 1st week, then group work the rest of the semester. We had to calculate our final grade at the end for her to record. Grades everything hard and not accommodating at all.

I took Dr. Davis for International Business Communication. She means well but has a terrible attitude. She will mark you absent and then you will not get credit for an assignment even if you show up late. She focuses too much on group assignments and they count for the highest percentage of your grade.
