this guy is awful, unclear, and ridiculous. The material is not only incoherent, but unfounded (at least in the context he presents it) do not take this course. i swear if you saw the word "subjugated", apparently he doesn't own a dictionary, and putting emphasis on margins. worst professor at pitt hands down.

You have to know what he wants to succeed on his tests. He'll usually tell you the day before what he's looking for, and you have to memorize as much info as you can and then regurgitate it in the form of an essay. Kind of a mean guy too, tends to make fun of students for being sick of all things. Thinks he's a big deal. Manageable class though.

I couldn't take it anymore. I withdrew because of his 20 pt tests, which he only took 8 pts of last time, and the lectures that i could not stand anymore, the monotony! Plus he was prejudice and favorited students who took his other classes. It was just terrible.

i had a death in my family and missed 3 classes, he didnt answer any emails i sent notifying him of my absence and refused to take my assignments when i returned to class! i had to speak to the head of the dept before he'd grade my assignments! he said to me that he isn't required to return student e-mails!! interesting class...very rude professor

I took his caribbean hist class b/c I thought it would be interesting and easy. His lectures are boring and he just refers to the same topics and tells you to read the book for more details. His tests are only worth 20 pts and they are mostly essays. He tries to prepare you, but fails. Going to him for help is pointless.

Adjaye is an amazing teacher. It is a challenging class, but he makes outlines for his lectures and if you follow along and take good notes, they will be very helpful. The exam's short essay questions should be straightforward. He checks off each point made up to ten, full credit for a response. He adds assignments to help boost everyone's grade

He is a nice guy, but he is VERY hard. The tests are impossible (they are mostly essay tests and he demands extreme detail - he is a very hard grader!). I worked very hard in this class and stil got at C :(

I had him for African Cultures and Civilization and thought that he was really good. We got out early usually, and the tests were extremely easy if you just go to class and do the assigned readings. It's a piece of cake.

The course isn't bad, he assigned work not on the syllabus, like an extra 10-12 pages worth of writing which wasn't cool. In my opinion he's not easy to get ahold of outside of class. Told me several times, "just drop by my office, Im always there." He's never there. Overall he's not too bad though.

Had this professor for Caribbean History. I attended every class, took notes, and studied. I was extremely disheartened to receive a C from this professor. As a teacher myself, I can say with extreme confidence that he needs to rethink his assessment!
