Although Juan is a nice guy and the class discussions were interesting, I would recommend for you to not take him again just like I hope I dont have to take him again. He is a VERY picky grader, not as accessible, gives an excessive amount of work, although I had to read a lot, and the instructions for some of the assignments werent clear.

Juan is a decent Professor. He is a nice guy and the classes were very interesting. However, his grading is inconsistent. He is a very nit picky grader. He also gives out a lot of papers with a lot of writing, which I expected but not the excessive amount he puts out. Somewhat accessible. And sometimes the instructions werent clear enough for me.

Great teacher! Even though there is a good bit of papers, he offers really good insight on the current situation with food and water in the world. A lot of the things taught in the class are very shocking and can open up a new perspective. Highly recommend!

At the beginning of the year Juan comes across as very easy going. However, he is almost impossible to get in contact with, his grading is very bias and presented in a confusing manner. Unless you follow his exact specifications you will not get the grade youre looking for, and even then what you wrote may not connect in his eyes.

He was okay but a lot of the time his lecture's were confusing and his grading is really weird. Even if you follow the assignment guidelines he still finds something that you "didn't hit" for the essay. Overall, he was nice and the class was never boring! Lots of discussions to keep you interested.

class was very entertaining, there's multiple readings for each class, he grades too much based on opinion, and doesn't give a clear grading rubric for his papers.

Juan is an inconsistent grader and never explains his policies regarding grading and does not further explain how to fix your problems with your essays. Class is pointless to attend, textbooks are useless, and he does not really teach anything. His whole class is pointless and I did not even get an A, waste of time.

Juan is an extremely nice guy. But, he could not possibly have been any more boring. Attending class is pointless, reading the book is pointless, and paying attention if you do go is also pointless. European politics was a complete waste of time. If you are a politics major or minor, take something else. You won't get anything out of this one.

Great guy. Really taught me alot about US politics. He really helps his students get it - and cares that they learn it.

Really knows what he's talking about in terms of European political structure and policy, but he's got days when he's REALLY boring. Not always, but a good share. TAkes attendance first half of the semester then you can just skip days whenever. Not very heavy textbook usage. Didn't even have to pay attention, grading based on papers only.

If you are interested in European politics take this class. Juan is extremely intelligent and he is not over demanding on the workload. The papers are not difficult, and I dont think his grading is at all unreasonable. Juan is a really nice guy, and EuroPol is one of the best classes I took at IC.

Anyone who says Juan is a bad teacher is ignorant. Some of the material may have been boringbut he is still an awesome guy who taught what he had to. If you have no interest in politics, especially european politics, obviously the class will be boring. Juan was extremely helpful and willing to give you extra time and help on the essays, i loved hi

Maybe the worst class and teacher I've had at Ithaca College. More a European studies course and not a European politics course. The textbooks are not needed, lectures are boring, and your grade is based on three confusing essays that are not relevant to the class. He's disorganized and returns papers late. Juan's a good guy but a bad teacher.

I cannot believe I'm saying this, but this teacher is actually worse then Alex Moon. Avoid taking European Politics with this professor unless you like a boring pointless class, difficult pointless essays, and an unorganized teacher who assigns requirements that are optional if he thinks they should have been while grading, but now while writing.

The worst teacher at this college by far. Class is pointless to attend, the grading is unfounded and timely. He told us the final was a 5 page essay then put out a sheet 2 days before its due saying its 10 pages. The actual class has nothing to do with your grade and Ithaca College should drop this horrible prof. Worst class experience ever

I got off to a rocky start in his class partly due to personal stuff, but he came to me when he realized I was having trouble with assignments. He gave me all the help I needed to identify the issues of the assignments. Great discussions, though too polite to cut off obnoxious students drown out everyone else at times. If I started well, easy B+ A-

Everyone who said that you don't need to read for Juan's USPOLT101 class is right--but doing the reading made me feel alot more well-prepared and it made class discussion alot more fruitful. Also, his standards for papers are a little vague if you don't go to him first with a rough draft. But overall a good and useful class if you make the effort
