Out of the professors that teach E1 he is probably the best choice. He goes over many examples and the test are straight forward. Test are open book open notes (have the HW too) so if you take good notes the test should be straight forward. Homework is for a grade. No quizzes. Fair grader.

In my opinion, he goes through his lecture material way too fast. It's almost pointless to write down examples because then you won't be able to keep up with what he's saying. His exams are open note, but that doesn't really help if you don't understand the material. He doesn't really seem invested and just goes through the motions.

This guy is too busy attending seminars in China or writing books, we skips 5 to 6 lectures per semester, leaving you with unprepared TA's Finally, when we comes to class he's not prepared for the long exercises he does in class (after 30 mins he realizes his results are wrong) Tests are ridiculously complicated, he says he curves then he does not

Tells you exactly what to expect for the midterms. Not a consistent grader. My main complaint is that he makes too many assumptions (some unwarranted) when doing the algebra. I went to his office to talk about one of my exam responses being incorrectly marked off and he was cold and gave me a speech about engineers being "precise."

Doesn't really seem to care about his students. He cancelled class multiple times so he could be somewhere else and wasn't the most inviting during his office hours. He also bragged about how he failed an entire class one semester. His exams are 1 long problem and mostly a test of how well you handle stress. At least you get notes... Still rough.

I thought he was great! Just make sure you take exceptional notes; you can use them on the test (and you'll need them). If you keep up with the homework, do your best to understand what's going on in the lab, and take detailed notes, there's not reason not to get an A. He makes lots of mistakes on the board, but he's not afraid to laugh at himself.

Not as bad as his rating. Lecturelab timing is great and the tests are very straightforward.

To survive this very stressful class, take notes (especially the test review), do the labs and homework. The exam review will be what's on the long one problem test. It is not documented in writing anywhere but he does curve on the final grades. Bottom line - avoid.

HW straight from the book you'll have a week to do Labs are easy exception being Lab 6 Exams are open everything but are fairly easy to do without notes He gives a lot of credit more towards showing you know the process to solve the system so use general terms then answer each equation No online notes

Go to class, take notes, and pay special attention to the examples. The review he does before the test will be pretty much what's on the test. Quit being babies and study on your own. I think I studied for an hour and did well on his tests.

I would have failed if the lab and homework wasn't part of the grade; as Liou states: "I can't teach". He is always gone, tests are impossible to finish, they are open book and open notes. He takes points off if you don't finish. Homework is way easier that his massive one problem exams. He does not curve at all until the end.

Okay look, when you have hard material combined with a tough and hard-to-understand professor, it will feel impossible. He flat out said people will fail his class. But truthfully, I have failed 2 out of 4 tests and he curved it up to a B (which would be like 1 or 2 letter grades). He misses class and gets a TA to teach sometimes. Go to EGN tutors!

He is rude to students at his office. Actual conversation #1: Me:"I wasn't able to make it to class yeste..." Liou:"So, what you want" Actual conversation #2(during office hours): Me:"I had a question about..." Liou:"I don't have time, I have a meeting" He has awful communication skills. His tests are WAY beyond the scope of the class

Liou's class is a nightmare, one of those "there's no one else and I need the class." The test are harder than the class examples and much harder than the homework. Go to class and PRAY for a C.

Worst teacher to walk the face of the earth. Doesn't care about you or your education. His idiot grad students grade the exams w/o any partial credit. One exam I got an 94, next a 16! All because the loser that did the grading! This teacher will cost you your GPA. If you work your ass off, you can only get a C. He sucks!

This class was just about impossible. The teacher really does not care about the students passing or failing and don't expect to get help from him at the office. The notes are great, but the tests reflect nothing you will ever cover in class or in the homework. He does curve at the end, but to the extent that most students get by with a "C".

It seems like the class is easy until you fail his tests. You really need to study for his tests. But in the end he curves.
