Karcher is a unique teacher. Class is made up of 3 tests, and if you average a 90% on the tests, you don't have to take the final. Also offers up to 40 optional points (extra credit basically). She makes guided readings that you need to do if you want a good grade, and that is where your participation comes in. Also has old tests with answers on BB

Dr. Karcher makes CAMP 100 an easy class. You just have to be careful about making sure you fulfill every requirement talked about in the syllabus. One silly mistake of not completing all the assignments and showing up to every class can cost you a letter grade.

As an accounting major, PLEASE take her and put in the time on the homework. If you are actually here to learn accounting, she is the professor for you. Her lectures are clear, she is helpful, and she really cares about your success in this field.

Fantastic professor. Probably the best I have had at UofL for ACCT classes. She does require you to participate in class but it helps you to learn the difficult material. She doesn't make you feel stupid for guessing or getting answers wrong. She truly wants you to understand. I would meet with her outside of class before exams, which helped a lot.

Class is conducted with a lot of participation as opposed to a lecture with examples. I prefer seeing guided examples in class to learn accounting material so the participation style was not my learning style but she knows her stuff and is very helpful to students who try hard and ask for help.

Comment:

Would recommend ONLY if you don't mind participating in class. Can either participate or do online homework for points, but she will continue to call on you in class and pester you/come back to you for a few questions if you try to pass. This made me stop attending her class, but she posts lectures online and is very helpful if you ask questions.

Dr. Karcher is one of the most helpful professors I have ever had. She creates chapter outlines to help you go through the chapters easily. She records every class, so yon can watch them back later for clarification or it is helpful if you miss class. My advice: DO THE OLD EXAMS!!!! and you will ace the tests!

Dr Karcher is an amazing professor. Prepare to work very hard. If you are not majoring in accounting, then don't take her, because you will learn a lot. Multiple choice questions are difficult, and it's impossible to cram.

Dr. Karcher is the BEST teacher I have had at UofL! She is hands down the most thorough, the most professional, the most ON POINT professor. All instructors at UofL have an example to follow from Dr. Karcher! If you don't do well in her class, you didn't practice or take advantage of the plethora of resources she makes available for students.

Comment:

I had Dr. Karcher for both "make the accountant or break the accountant" courses. Yes, she is tough and demanding but she will give you the BEST education you will find if you are a true accountant. Her tests seem to be harder than they have to be....but pass her tests and will pass the CPA exam. I have nothingg but respect for her.

Comment:

Very energetic teacher! Don't take class early in the morning if you are not willing to participate. Daily group work, a few pop quizzes, four papers are assigned. HW is optional but I would do it, you pretty much have to teach yourself but she will help you with anything, just ask! Grades papers harshly but gives a lot of partial credit on tests.

Very energetic and willing to help but it wasn't a good class. Wastes class time by having students form in groups to do particular problems. The idea is we teach each other the material but everyone hates it and little is accomplished. A huge portion of your grade is based on writing skills. Feel like I learned very little about accounting.

Has taken 5 years off from teaching, came back this semester full of energy and cares about students. That being said, maybe she forgot how to actually teach in those 5 years. Treats the class like elementary school and its up to you to teach yourself the material because her methods are very confusing. Avoid at all costs
