Dr. Aghaie gives really disorganized lectures. You better be ready to take good notes because that's all you'll have for the test.

Comment:
The class and topic was not tough to be exact, but Aghaie was so incredibly full of himself, and while his grading critera was very clear on paper, he was very evasive about what he specifically wanted you to answer the test essay questions. If there's another section or instructor you can take the same topic with, I highly suggest you do that.

Comment:
After reading some of Dr. Aghaie's earlier reviews, I was rather apprehensive about taking his class. It wasn't bad, though. The class was oriented around two midterms and attendance. Three books were assigned, but they supplement the lectures more than anything else. His lectures were a tad disorganized, but overall, the class was fine

I took Dr. Aghaie's class, not knowing what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Our class only had 4 components for our grade, 2 tests, attendance, and a 5 point extra credit assignment. Dr. Aghaie's class is impossible to fail if you do the readings and attend lectures since you only have to write what you've read and heard.

After listening to all his gloating I was expecting someone a bit more educated or profound. Kamran is rude and arrogant, no more fascinating than any other person you see in the classroom. I was rather disappointed as he lacks teaching methods and is extremely unapproachable. Big disappointment, UT has far better professors, avoid this one.

Good prof. Expects you to work very hard and produce excellent work, but is encouraging and helpful. If you do the work you will get a good grade.

He delivered information in class, but doesn't really know how to teach. He was not helpful. Not someone you could call a mentor. Did not find him approachable at all.

I took four different classes with him. He is old school in all the right ways. His lectures are the most organized I have ever experienced, he does not waste time and babble. His class is easy if you work hard, meaning keep up with the reading and go to every class. I would take any class he ever teaches.

The way he lectures is just confusing...he lists names on the overhead rather than outlining what he's talking about. So if you don't get everything the first time, you're stuck with just a bunch of obscure arabic names. He also doesn't do test reviews or even vaguely help with the review questions because he "doesn't believe in it"..wow thanks!!!

twenty essay questions for the final??? TONS of reading but the quizzes often involve only one book??? Goes on tangents about totally obscure people which draws you away from the main point of the lecture??? A quiz a week and constant attendance checks???? Is this third grade????? This guy is totally lame...this is an INTRO course!!!!!!

What kind of ass puts the same two questions on the final that were on the midterm? An named Aghaie. I could have spent the last half of the semester not learning anything...

I read a lot and even I think this guy assigned WAY too much reading. He has hardly any humor/charisma to keep your attention and tends to drone about the subject. For someone who knows nothing about islam, that only makes this class ten times harder. Bottom line: A LOT of reading and you should probably know a thing or two about the subject

A lot of reading for Intro to Islam course, but I found him to be a brilliant and very fair professor and grader. He works very hard in the classroom and promotes and facilitates a very constructive discussion.
