He's funny and goes into the material thoroughly. You'll end up remembering a lot of things just because of the way he presents them. When there's extra time he'll share stories from his research on the Dead Sea Scrolls that can be both helpful and interesting and there's always a bonus on the quiz: the transliterated name of a celebrity.

Honestly, Brother Parry is the closest person I've met to being translated. He genuinely cares about his students and takes time to learn your name and remember things about you. I highly recommend taking any classes from him. I took Honors Old Testament and Honors Hebrews with him. Both he made easy and uplifting. It won't be your hardest class.

If you want to study OT, Bro. Parry is the man to take. He's all about that topic! Helped with translation of the Dead Sea Scrolls, LOVES helping students out with questions outside of class, and really cares about his students. Everything's off of his lectures, so make sure to take wonderful notes and you will do wonderful as well.

I feel odd saying it since everyone else on here loved him, but I felt like Professor Parry had a hard time with our class. He was extremely nice but backed away from some questions. Sometimes he let students answer students' questions, and I felt like he would validate run-on answers when they weren't making a relevant point.

HE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER! He was WAY chill and WAY nice. He would try to help us in any way he could. He REALLY wants you to learn the stuff and explains it in a simple way so you can understand. And he is WAY smart but very HUMBLE about it. MY FAVOURITE TEACHER AT BYU! HE IS THE BEST!

Really nice, funny, smart man. Made the OT interesting and understandable with excellent (sometimes random) lectures. The tests were even more random--take careful notes (especially if he gives "better translations") and if you get a bad grade, just talk to him and if you know even a little, he'll help you out! One easy easy great paper, two tests.

He was a great teacher. He just delved into the material, and he knows so much! There is something for someone at every level of understanding, and he wants everyone to enjoy it. Great teacher and great class. The tests aren't so bad if you make it to all the lectures and pay attention. They are some of the best quality tests I've taken.

I have taken many great religion classes but Bro. Parry blows everyone away! Knowing the scriptures is an understatement for him. Plus, he is the kindest and most approachable, friendly professor on campus. If you want to learn to really understand scripture take this class. He doesn't just feed you fish, he teaches you HOW to fish, a rare skill
