This class is almost entirely based on lecture (so you have to watch them all) and if you fill out his study guide YOURSELF and do the extra credit you will be totally fine. I didn't use SmokinNotes and was totally fine. I only used the book a few times for the study guide. The exams are easy if you do the study guide well.

I did great in this class yet I'm going to say he is a horrible lecturer. He makes many contradicting statements in lecture which is confusing. It's also shady that he doesn't let us look at exams to see what we missed and doesn't have clear cut replies to emails for clarification. Thousands of dollars for this? I don't think so.

Actually doing the study guide (not copying someone else's answers and reading them) and Smokin Notes are both extremely helpful for the exams. Knowing both of these well will really help you out in the long run, although it can be a lot of work!

Your entire grade is based off 4 exams. The exams are difficult, but if you fill out the study guide and use smokin notes its fine. He gives tons of extra credit which are all on quizlet. Personally got high C/s and B's on his exam and still ended up with an A because of extra credit. Lectures are very boring, but he's good at answering emails.

Ok so here's the thing, yes the lectures are VERY dry BUT blaming a professor's English for not doing well in the course is just plain pathetic. Grad students this semester complained too much. Look here now this is a graduate level course so if you haven't figured out how to study and do well by this time then that's your problem. Period.

This is a required class for my program and he is setting students up to fail. The information he presents is either dated or untrue. Long lectures that are rambling in nature and very repetitive. Often talks about things that are unrelated to the presentation he is giving. Take everything he says with a grain of salt and double check what he says.

Horrible class but it is required for many majors and health tracks. His lectures are boring and he talks so slow. Half of his test questions have literally nothing to do with his lectures, I dont know where he comes up with them. The other half are on lectures we were told were for the NEXT exam. Your grade is based on exams and some quizzes

His lectures and very difficult to understand because of his accent, as well as being boring. The textbook was almost useless as a study tool because it covers too much material, and doesn't cover everything on the tests. This is a hard class. Be prepared to study a lot, especially if you haven't had a Biology refresher in a while.

The online lectures were very interesting and manageable. Exams were somewhat difficult but are very straightforward. If you take good notes and read the textbook, you will do great.

Make sure to take every extra credit quiz. The recorded lectures were so incredibly boring that I stopped watching them altogether after the first exam. I read through the smokin notes before every test and was fine. Overall he was an average prof and its possible to get an A with a minimal amount of effort.

The lectures are presented on power points which he reads verbatim to the class, although he does give further explanation and repeats the most important info. His lectures are a good representation of test material and his explanations, although lengthy, are helpful. Hint: watch the videos to 1.5x speed, brings his slower tone to a normal speed.

Not an easy class. Information isn't that complex for a science class, but tests have very difficult and specific question. Most questions come from the lectures which are great, if you can get past his accent (don't need to read book). Test questions have grammatical errors, but EC makes up for that. Good class, but not easy as others have said.

Not an easy A, but definitely doable. Make sure to take every extra credit quiz, answers are all on quizlet and taking both before each exam is worth 10% back on your exam grade. Recommend completing the study guides by yourself before each exam, as well as re-watching parts of the lectures that are emphasized. Don't really need to read textbook.

Dr Asghari asks very tricky exam questions. Honestly Im surprised at the few people who said it's easy to get an A. It's not. I have taken several upper-level science courses that had more straightfwd questions. They were mostly which of these are true: I&II, II&III, none, etc. Extra credit was almost not worth the time spent to get a point.

He was kinda rude when I emailed him and not helpful at all. The class requires a lot of memorization and his lectures are extremely boring. The videos dont have closed captions and it is hard to understand him at times. I wouldnt recommend.

Dr. Asghari is a great professor! His tests are not hard but can be very tricky to see if you actually studied the material. Watch lectures, do the required readings & smoking notes & you'll be good. He also gives A LOT of extra credit. Word of advice: don't skip lectures and rely heavily on smoking notes, I made this mistake and it cost me an A

Professor Asghari is a good lecturer and his class is pretty easy. He only grades you on 4 exams, however, provides a bunch of extra credit quizzes to boost your grade. Before each exam he provides a study guide which is basically the entire exam. Exams can be tricky though because of the way he asks questions.

Extremely knowledgeable professor in microbiology. Exams can be tricky because he likes to throw in a lot of "all of the above" or "none of the above" questions, so you really gotta know the stuff. An A is definitely manageable with the EC, practice exams and study guides. Very fair on grading. Blaming his english wont get you the A, just STUDY.

The only grades for this course are the 4 exams. Each exam you can earn up to 10 extra credit points through online quizzes. You need to get a 90 on each exam to get an A, so with the 10 extra credit points you only need an 80 on each exam. If you read the Smokin' Notes the week up to the exam you will be fine! Just study hard and don't stress!
