Dr. Sloan is a very knowledgeable. While he came across as condescending at times he was nice guy overall. I thought the Everest group simulation was fun, but that can be highly dependent on the group you are placed in. There is a lot of reading for this class and forum participation is required. Fairly easy grader on final and other papers.

Professor Sloan is overall a good teacher. His material is VERY boring, but he does his best to get people to participate and get them interested. A couple of cases per term, 1 midterm and 1 final, all of which are not too bad. He offers a bunch of extra credit opportunities throughout the semester which is awesome. Overall, pretty solid choice

Sloan is a nice guy but the lectures are long and dry. He is fair with assignments and gives good feedback. The tests are somewhat difficult but he curves them sometimes.

You're only graded by very few things a midterm, a final, and three case studies you do in a group. The case studies were tedious and the site to create them on came out of the 1970's but he was an easy grader, gave a curve on the midterm and final, and gave options for extra credit. Very dry lecture I had my computer every class to keep me busy.

First eight weeks, the only grades were the completely subjective Forum posting requirements. Last eight weeks, 35% of your overall grade is based on a simulation group project that the professor hasn't mastered, and doesn't answer questions in a helpful or timely manner about You might as well throw a dart at a dartboard to determine your grade.

It was my 1st online class in the MBA program. Prof gives several articles/chapters to read. Participation (comments on forum etc..) is necessary. Prof participates in forums too and give direction to the threads. Mt Everest simulation is a group project, don't worry too much about your goals and work well with the team. Papers are graded fairly.

Really great professor, one of my favorites at Marist. Not cause he was nice or easy- because he taught the material you need to know, makes study guides for exams with exactly what is on the test, and is quick at responding to messages and helpful in confusion. Would recommend as good teacher and easy class if you do everything he shows you.

easy class if you pay attention, in class midterm & final exam, no presentations, no group work, no homework except for 2 relatively large case studies (which make up a significant portion of your grade), 1 research paper (12-15 pgs). sloan gives enormous study guides that cover everything you need for his exams. PS: he will never learn your name.

Lectures can be dry, but thats because the topics can be dry. Prof. Sloan is aware of this and makes class interesting with activities/games to convey the material. Only 2 assignments, but both are time consuming. He is a very fair grader. Midterm and Final both have comprehensive review sheets

sloan knows his stuff, thats for sure. it's pretty boring but he tries to get the class involved as much as he can. it starts off pretty interesting but by the end of the year you're be pretty done with the class. two case studies, group project midterm and final so the workloads not that bad. he may change his syllabus every semester though.

Very knowledgeable about HR and Compensation in particular. He is a great resource for Comp + Benefits but the class tends to drag by. Pay attention and you'll appreciate what he has to say. Not too hard of a class.

I actually enjoyed his class. He may not be the most outgoing person in the world, but he has years of HR experience and is genuinely dedicated to it. Goes above and beyond to offer feedback to students, and encourages discussion in class. Hands-on activities once in awhile make the class a little more exciting.

The year I took him could be an exception. The personal difficulties he had made him less available for classes. He did live up the quote, "Boring as dried paint". Takes too many pauses and looses his audience. He may know what he is talking about, but no one else did. Midterm and finals were difficult considering we didn't learn anything

EASY class. met once a week. material was kind of boring and I often found myself zoning out when he was talking. class was easy because he used powerpoints to explain everything and outlined all tests(1 midterm and 1 final)very detailed. 1 group presentation, 10 page paper, and 3 or 4 very short case studies. minimum effort will get an easy B

class is dry and boring. assignments are easy. research paper wasn't too bad. final was a joke. midterm was tough. no tests or quizzes. do all extra credit. with an 87 average you would think that's a B+ but u gotta have 88-89 in order to get a B+. grr

about exciting as watching paint dry...found it difficult to pay attention...although he has a great deal of information in the HR Field, I think that he has a low level of enthusiasm about teaching.
