Would not tell the class the names of the graded homework assignments, or what was to be done to complete the homework, until a few days before the midterm exam. Students who passed learned about the assignments from student who failed the class previously. Worst experience ever. The department chair said many students complain each quarter.

He is not a great teacher but as others have said he will help you if you need it pay attention and you might learn something It's a very hard class you are gonna have to teach yourself some nuance

A wonderful man, I enjoyed his jokes and his lighthearted manor. However, this professor can NOT teach. He does not cover material well, he skips around when talking about a subject, making it incredibly difficult to follow in lecture. The worst part about the class is he would not answer questions effectively or even at all. VERY poor teacher.

This Professor is not good. He is usually running late and then goes on a ramble about something very few times it's on the subject. And his notes on the board are hard to understand and make no sense. The Assignments are a joke. Honestly don't take this Professor if you want to learn the subject take someone else and save yourself the hassle.

On first day, literally said if we wanted to learn networks to take it from another instructor. Doesn't seem to care at all about the subject and barely shares enough info to allow for us to pass his "tests". Gave the entire class a make-up test because most failed it. He is incredibly funny, but avoid taking any class with him if possible.

Kosuke REALLY knows his material, also is funny as hell. However He either doesn't know how to convey it, or is just lazy. Personally i would guess the latter. He always shows up late, his writing is sloppy and all over the place making note-taking neigh impossible. Odds are he's the only one teaching the course though :/

Comment:

Easily one of the funniest and most interesting professors in the department. Surprisingly, with his amount knowledge and experience, Kosuke fails to truly teach the subject. Lectures are sloppy at best. Labs are fairly easy. Exams are very short, but are carefully graded. Overall I disliked the course because I can't say I learned anything.

Kosuke's brilliant and hilarious. Has a lot of great stories, so his classes are always entertaining until you realize that you're being held responsible for the material he's busy not teaching. Very disorganized, and what's expected on the lab assignments is often unclear. Sometimes I'm not even sure that HE knows what the assignment is.

Kosuke walked in on the first day of class and announced to us: "I don't know anything about computer networks, but I've been assigned to teach it!" Easy homeworktests, but I really don't feel like I've learned much at all about the subject, especially looking at Carol Taylor's course notes for this class. Easy 4.0? Yes. Full understanding? No.

PEOPLE Kosuke is amazing. He is top shelf for all things low level electronic. Assembly isn't for everyone, its not easy, but Kosuke does a good job of explaining. If you are satisfied when your software kinda works, mostly, you won't do well. 460 was fun, we developed low level drivers for keyboard, vga, and system interrupts on FPGA's.

I had a really tough time learning from his lectures, but like what others have said, ask him for help and he's extremely patient and helpful. Plus, he's also really "likeable" in spite of some frustrations with class.

Kosuke might be a little unclear while teaching, but he is extremely helpful if you ask questions. Overall one of my favorite teachers, not only because I am interested in computer architecture but also because class with Kosuke is never, EVER dull. Don't be a jackass, and you'll love all of his classes.

Kosuke is awesome. A lot of students don't like him because they don't understand his classes. If you need help don't hesitate to go to his office. He always would stop what he was doing and work through my programs and questions for as long as I needed. He grades his tests with no emotion or grey zone so read directions carefully. Great Prof!!

He is a great guy. I LOVE him! BUT.... He can't teach. He's a really sweet and nice guy who I adore, but he simply can not teach. He knows his stuff, but he is unable to convey it effectively to his students. He goes off topic and half the time you really don't know what the heck is going to be on the test or what you should be learning.

Horrible experience. He teaches nothing, explains nothing, makes nothing clear, yet he somehow thinks we should be experts. Good thing he doesn't teach classes of much importance or there would be no value going to EWU as a CS major.

Horrible teacher, perhaps the worst at EWU. He doesn't teach half of what is on the test. Ask him a question and he will yell at you. Question him and his proof that he is right is "I am the professor". No he is not, he is worthless.
