Lan Hui is a super fun person. She is passionate about teaching Mandarin. I had already taken this class a few years ago so it was easy for me, but if you're starting from scratch you really need to come to class. If you don't understand the material, she is always available to answer questions. She also runs a study abroad trip to China every year

Amazing. Lectures are perfectly clear and understandable, but she's more than willing to help students who are having trouble understanding the material. Very supportive of disabled students.

Comment:

Really nice, overall. We mostly watched videos and she talked about vacations she has taken, she never required us to speak Chinese at all. Got an A, didn't even do anything. Didn't learn much Chinese, but she's really hot so it was worth my time. She didn't even require us to write any Chinese characters. Can't ask for an easier class.

Comment:

Ryder is a caring and engaging teacher. She keeps a beginner level (although Chinese is a difficult language, so you need to also put in your own work), in addition tries to keep current and historical Chinese events and culture in the mix. If you speak Chinese, the class itself may be easier, but she includes activities to continue your growth.

This class is very easy if you study. I have never seen anyone who takes the time to study do badly in this class, it's the people who don't attend and think learning characters is unnecessary that fail. Lanhui takes the time to get to know her students and is very personable and helpful. Additionally, she's adorable and has great fashion sense :)

Comment:

Lanui is a nice woman, but she isn't the greatest teacher. She frequently cancels class (bad for learning a language) and wastes Fridays by just talking with students about their lives. Chinese is a difficult language, and Lanhui does not teach you to speak fluently. If I had known this was how the class was set up, I would have never taken it.

Lanhui is a superb teacher. She goes slowly to make sure that every student is understanding the material. Tests are easy. She actually takes the time to get to know you and she tries to develop bonds with her students. The only complaint is that chapters are not structured evenly-some last 2 weeks, others only 2 days. Still, a wonderful teacher.

Lanhui is probably the best teacher I've had in a while. She makes sure that everyone is on the same page and asks numerous times if everything is making sense. The homework and tests are super easy. Make sure to read the book, however, because it will help you greatly in mastering the chinese language. Super nice and relatable, easy to understand.

Mrs. Ryder is a fantastic teacher. Chinese is a hard language to learn and she tries to make it as easy as possible. The homework isn't too difficult and the exams are not easy but are not difficult as long as you study the book. Highly recommended.

Have her in 201, already took her 101 and 102 classes, she's an outstanding teacher. Always tries to make the class feel comfortable. If you EVER need help ASK HER! She teachs best I think in a 1 on 1. Also, If you show any enthusiasm in the subject she grades a better for you. Overall best teacher i've had in college.

Lanhui (Lani) Ryder is a hot, intelligent teacher who is very nice and has a lot of respect for her students. Sometimes, she does go too fast and it is hard to confront her if you're having trouble. All in all, she is great teacher!
