He is honestly an interesting man. The problem that I, and current other students, find with his class is that his tests and quizzes are ridiculous, as in spontaneous and difficult, and he describes everything in German. Unless you speak fluent German or can easily listen to German, it's going to be difficult.

I took German for three years in high school and could not put together a coherent sentence to save my life. For some reason, Professor Johnson was able to get me to understand concepts I had always struggled with. His class was easy and reasonably enjoyable.

Despite the other reviews on here, I find Dr. Johnson to just be an awesome professor. Very engaging, knows his stuff, and does all he can to make sure you get what he's talking about. he's very energetic and straight forward. I've never had a better German teacher and I would highly recommend him.

Worse german teacher I ever had. Assumes that german is your only class. Goes over on time, EVER class period. Very little positive reinforcement. Crazy, unorganized, horrid! Avoid him at all costs, although it is hard if you want to get either a german major/minor.

Very good professor. I really like German when he taught it. Thought about minoring in it, even...well, until I got to 201. He's very amusing, and I learned so much in his class. Highly recommended.

Dr. Johnson is, by far, the best foreign language instructor I have ever had. His teaching meathods are nonconformist, to say the least, but they seem effective. If standard languages classes make you nervous or sleepy, give Dr. Johnson a try!
