Dr. Richardson's uncompromising pedagogic style led to my success at George Mason University. She will quickly root out those who don't belong in college and will be life-changing to those who care. She has a PhD in English from UVA and is more than generous for bringing that level of academic excellence to a community college.

Wonderful lady. VERY hard teacher. She always wanted to do controversial issues and African American issues. She also INSISTS you call her Dr. Richardson(she was the only person that required me to do that.) The worst part, she gave me a 0 because I could not present a project(but she only gave us one day to present! Don't take the class with her.

Not a nice teacher, does not explain assignments even when you ask her to and gave us at least 2 per class. she also did a lot of group work during class. obsessed over the holocaust and will make you write a 10 pg paper on it. lots of reading too we had 4 FULL books when i took her.

She's a tough, no nonsense teacher and falls into that love her or hate her category. But she teaches on a college level. Not a fan of the discouraging in-class discussions but gives very interesting writing prompts. Expect a LOT of writing. Not recommended for the weak of heart. Very opinionated teacher.

Dr. Richardson is an amazing woman. The class was a bit difficult, but from her- I learned how to write, and write well. She was challenging, but she helped me reach my full potential. Not to mention, she is very friendly, and kept us all laughing continually.

Say what you will, I loved Dr. Richardson's class. I really think students dislike her because her class is very challenging, unlike many lit classes at Germanna. Her exams are very difficult, but they aren't impossible. Take her class if you are up for a challenge! I learned a lot!

Assigns a paper every class, as well as one or two stories that can range from a few pages to "The Scarlet Letter." Very pompous, loves God and seems to forget this is Community College and not Harvard. Would not recommend to anyone.

Amazing teacher and wonderful woman!Can't figure out where the ****/favoritism comments come from. She treats all students with respect, but expects ALL to work HARD. Not an easy class, but you will learn so much! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you want to learn!!! If you're there to take up space, don't waste her time or yours.

I dread coming to her class. She feels as if she needs to yell everything which is horribly annoying. You wont be able to write a paper without it being plagerized and you just overall wont want to be there. tests and quizzes are incredibly hard to understand, I dont even think she would understand them if we gave her something on that level.

My guess is that she was a lousy student. To this day she is envious of good students, and trys to bog students down with a staggering amount of work. This way, she can convince herself that she's "better" than the good or even average students. She shows NO insight at all on literature-No ideas at all except fluffy talk about feelings.

It took me a few years to cool down and write this review...I got a D after A after A after A on essays and group work, because I did not collect enough points on ridiculously hard quizzes and two NAs for a little less than required 4 page essay. The point system throws everything good you did out if you have a life, a family situation or a job...

Seriously, unless you are ONLY taking her class during the semester and do not have a life outside of school then take her class. You can actually learn a lot from her but don't take her if you have a high GPA... you will probably not get an "A" no matter how good you are at English. I got a "C"... quite a blemish to my 4.0.

Horrible teacher!!!! Extremely ****s towards white and hispanic students. Only 2 students out of the 26 in class passed the class with a C. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Gives assignments as though she were teaching a graduate course. 2-3 papers and at least 4 very lengthy readings due every single week. She's not helpful, plays favorites, and her exams cannot possibly finished within the time limit (Don't know anyone who actually finished them). Had a 3.3 GPA until I took this course. Absolutely not recommended.

i already dislike english, but after taking it with her i never want to even look at another english/reading book! there are a million papers to write and tons of books to read and unless your one of her little teachers pets you will not do good in this class. especially if you have a life outside of this class.

I have a 3.5 GPA and I'm still failing her class. She assigns multiple readings, papers, and her exams are impossible to finish in an hour and 15 minutes. She basically expects you to have no life besides her class & immediately understand what's she's teaching. Do not take it if you're not as enthuastic about literature as she is.
