Extremely rude. The first time I ever spoke to him was just to ask about a schedule conflict and his response was absolutely rude and he started cursing me out. Avoid at all costs

I find it pathetic how conservatively mean this man is. He has this "guilty until proven innocent" view of students. I remember when I went to him for an administrative form approval, the first word out of my mouth received judgment and I'm not even one of his students. It's such a shame that the physics department is led by him.

Interesting, non-judgmental professor. Cares about you if you ask for help but also doesn't display bias. Overall, a good professor but I found the way he taught confusing and not exactly to the point. A lot of personal studying is required for this course. His lectures were enjoyable but not necessarily helpful. Liked him but... it's a hard course

Dr. Folan is a passionate and very knowledgeable professor. He expects you to try, he won't be handing out any easy A's--BUT he will go to lengths to make sure you understand the material. I had no background in modern physics and was still able to do fine. Also, he planned a field trip to Indian Point! He cares, you just need to communicate. Worth

Old reviews are outdated. Interesting, just LOOKS intimidating. Participation is important, but that just means showing up and paying attention, which is easy enough. Homework is hard because the course material is hard (hey, it's nuclear physics). Gives helpful class notes. Will answer questions without being judgmental. Be prepared to work hard.

He gave v good lecture notes for the class and let you use open everything (including internet) on the final. Just had a midterm paper due, not a midterm exam. Material can be challenging but he is willing to help during office hours. Going to his office hours really helped me. Show up to class and do the work. You can't fool him w lame excuses.

He is not the kind of professor that you can just show up and do nothing. He is a nice guy if you show you are really trying. But he is super strict and old fashion, this causes students not to like him because you can't get away with anything. YOU CAN NOT OUT SMART HIM OR PULL THE WOOL OVER HIS EYES!!

The WORST in PH dept. He is very judgmental. He will humiliate you in front of the class if you do something wrong. His grading and attendance are very strict. He expects everyone to be just like the way he want. Just the WORST!

I have had the pleasure of meeting with him once about a schedule conflict and out of his mouth came a flurry of unprofessional generalizations as to the kind of student I am and how I don't care for physics. B/c that's why I'm a Mechie. I hate physics. Mind you, this was the first time I met him. But I'm told he is good at teaching.

Take DiBartolo if possible. Forlan is not helpful at all. DiBartolo is a nice guy and also does a review session before the exams. Even though you will be taking the same exam no matter whose section you are in, you will be much better off if you take DiBartolo

He and Zurawsky are in the misery loves company club. I don't know why they're so damned mean. At least Zurawsky has some compassion, though.

He's a bad lab professor. Accusses you of cheating on lab reports, if any slight similarity is found on your lab report. Unprofessional behavior when it comes to discussing the lab report. Screams and harasses you until he hears what he wants to hear. Worst professor at poly. Failed physics.

If you want to be made the joke of the 100-student class, take this professor. He is rude and picks on people all the time. He may be knowledgeable, but you won't learn much in his class, and his tests are almost impossible to pass.
