Professor Wood is a great person and really cares about her students. She's very knowledgable and has interesting lectures. However, she expects a lot from a GE class. Our exams were ridiculously specific and long. She is also a super tough grader. She doesn't believe in giving full credit. She gives B's for doing everything required. No curve.

This class was life-changing. I was worried it would turn me into an "angry feminist," but in reality I was inspired by the opportunities I have to make the world better. You do a big service project on your own, and it was awesome. It was a lot of work but my other classes weren't too hard so it wasn't a problem. I would recommend for sure.

First of all, this is a life changing class!!! Prof Wood is great to talk to both in and out of class and hugely influenced my perspective on life. She expects a lot out of her students so she makes her class a little on the hard side but its worth it! When in doubt, watch for lists, vocab words, and specific solutions to problems in the reading.

This class is one of my favorites at BYU. Dr. Wood is such an awesome teacher who really cares about you. You have to do the readings to pass the quizzes (which are everyday) and to participate in discussions. I didnt mind the readings because they werent difficult to understand and were super interesting. Everyone should take this class!

This professor gave ridiculously difficult quizzes and tests. We had a LOT of readings, and when we were quizzed on these readings the questions were too specific. The tests were very difficult, required a lot of studying. I liked the class materials and discussions, just not the professor.

Dr. Wood is a pretty nice teacher. The class itself is really difficult. There's a lot of reading, quizzes every day on said reading, and lots of projects. The class material was really interesting, it's just a large course load.

Dont take womens studies from her! She teaches it like it is one of her English classes! The essays are extremely harshly graded for tiny mistakes and the reading is excessive with extremely particular quizzes every day. A great class, not the best teacher for it

She is nice but she still kinda scares me. She is an intimidating lady but she does care. The discussions were interesting but she isnt the most inspiring lecturer. Lots of reading and ridiculously hard quizzes every day pulled from very specific parts of the reading. The tests are extremely hard and specific. So an interesting class if you care.

Prof. Wood is really good and is always willing to help her students. There is a LOT of readings (as well as occasional written responses to them) but they are followed up with deep in class discussions. There are two midterms and three papers. The midterms aren't the easiest but if you put in a decent amount of studying you should be fine

Professor Wood is my favorite professor at BYU. I have taken ENGL 292 and ENGL 333 from her. I have also been a TA for her 295 class. She is one of the smartest people I know and I have learned so much from her. She has helped improve my writing skills so much! Her classes require effort but nothing unrealistic. Highly recommend her for any class!

Dr. Wood is an amazing teacher who cares about her students and the subject. This class is not an easy A, but is more than worth the work you put in. Class structure: daily reading assignments accompanied but class quizzes, class discussions on the reading material, one paper, and two exams (if you know the study guide, you'll be fine)

The tests are hard, but there are other ways to get points too like the quizzes (easy as long as you skim the reading) and papers and a few assignments. She knows what she is talking about, but is always open to new ideas and opinions. Very reasonable. I looked forward to class very much! Brings cookies to class.

Dr. Wood is an inspirational woman and I loved taking women studies from her. Yes, she assigned a lot of reading but it was interesting subject matter. She gives daily quizzes so make sure you comprehend the main points from each reading. If you participate and fill out the study guides she gives you, you will do fine. Class discussions were great

She knows the material well. The reading is required because you get reading quizzes each class. You also have a few other assignments. I found the quizzes to be kind of difficult because sometimes you don't know what she'll ask you from the reading. I feel she is fair but she expects you to work. I enjoyed the class.

A LOT of reading, even for a lit. survey course. She assigns a bunch of little readings throughout the year, and it makes it impossible to remember the author and title when you're tested on it. Three papers and three tests, and as long as you read, you should do fine. Lectures are kind of dry and boring, but very important for the tests.

She's the best. Two words- tough love. I learned SO much about how to really write at a college level, it was a tough learning process, but she'll build you into a great writer if you do your part. Really impressed.

Dr. Wood is great and knows her stuff. She is VERY helpful, and provides incredible feedback on all papers. Some students might not like it because she is pretty critical, but it's very constructive and I found it extremely helpful. No tests, just papers, and I learned a lot of great writing techniques from her. Good class, good teacher.

If you are taking this class for GE credit, dont take it from Dr. Wood. The work required is ridiculous for a lower level class and the professor is no help at all. I asked for help on an assigment and she basically told me there was nothing she could do and to figure it out by myself. This class is a lot harder than it should be.

She knows her stuff but expects way too much from her students, especially for a GE class. There was a LOT of reading for almost every class period though the class discussions were usually interesting. Her tests are ridiculously hard. Even though I did all the reading and quizzes, and was interested in the material, it was impossible to get an A.
