Overall not the worst teacher ever. She's strict, fast-paced, & blatantly honest. Her tone may seem sharp, but I don't think she tries to be. HOWEVER, I don't agree w/ppl saying she doesn't care about her students. If something important came up, she'd understand. She's tough & can come off strong, but she only has good intentions with her teaching

strict but fair teacher . Didn't like her teaching style she doesn't really explain just expects you to know. If you are a slow learner do not take her .Make sure you study the material .She constantly picks on students to answer and will call you out if you don't know what you're doing. She motivates you to push your self to do better .

Probably the worst teacher to have for math. Makes a point that she's been teaching for years, which doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Isn't understanding for student needs at all. Only teacher I've ever had a problem with. Run if you have the chance. Steer clear at all costs.

Comment:

Professor Formanes, i have to say has been one of the best math professors I have had so far. She had the patience to help her students understand the subject. I actually understood the assignments...even though it was a 6 week course! (math isn't my favorite subject!) Do the homework and the assignments and show your work! You will do fine. :)

She goes very fast and is hard to understand at times. But she likes what she teaches and is very good at it. She listens if you talk to her and tries to help. DO ALL your homework and SHOW all your work. If you DON'T understand ASK questions in class. She will show you how to do the problem. The BOOK is terrible. GO to SI sessions if offered.

I do not get math, but I did get a B in the class. She gives a lot of quizzes which help with your grade and offers a make up test. If you your homework and attend class you should pass. Sometimes a little hard to understand, but very nice lady.

She is not good at explaining problems. she writes on the board and just expects you to understand right off the bat. when you ask for help if you do not understand she will simply tell you you are on your own. she really doesn't work with the students its either you get it or don't once she has taught it that's it if you miss it she will not help.

Formanes is an excellent teacher. I got an A in her class because I did my homework. sometimes she checks for homework randomly and classwork as well. extremely easy class. she also memorizes ppls. name. she also is really funny and very nice. highly recommened her. her tests are not hard. read the textbook if you need help.

she does problems on the board like she thinks everybody else will get what she is doing right away. she has no sympathy for you if you r doing bad and wont always help you with your questions. she will simply tell you to get a tutor.

Good teacher. Just do the HW, read the book and you will get the material. She sometimes asks you to solve a problem in front and might ask you to do it a different way than you are use to. She is strict enough to motivate you to learn which is good. If you want a chill class, go somewhere else.

She is an AWESOME teacher. She really encourages everyone to do their best, just do the HW & you'll get it. She just has a thick Filipino accent, but don't mind that!! Math will be easier to understand with her, i STRONGLY recommend you take this teacher :]

She is super nice lady. Her lectures are kind of hard to keep up with though. The one thing that i like about her is that she is a great tutor and has a good sense of humor even if she seems kind of grumpy.

Good teacher, very helpful, and knows her stuff. It's true she will give you a hard time if you're clueless, but it's your own fault; she expects you to study. She grades on a straight points system, and gives you lots of extra tests, so getting an A is a cinch unless you're a lazy slacker, and if you are...why are you in college to begin with?

OMG this teacher is so great. I really liked her she was so helpful with me and she always answered my questions and explained it step by step. The people who say the mean things is probably becuase they just wanted an easy A. But college doesnt work like that you have to work for your grade. So don't blame the teacher for your mistakes.

She does have a very thick accent. However, this doesnt stop her from teaching her materials well. Altho, sometimes she could be mean when u dont know what youre doing. But she doesnt mean harm. And not to mention her grading system. I got an A. :) I recommend her if youre willing to work hard and learn.
