Comment:
Awful class. Textbook was no help. Teacher is an unnecessarily strict grader (for easy assignments too). Quiz questions unorganized (for a question, choice B. could say "both B and C", or grammar could make no sense). She emailed us surprising us with 2 papers and 2 quizzes due this week out of nowhere. Avoid unless required, like it was for me.

Just don't take her course. Never have I ever read so much in my life and study and still not get a perfect score on a quiz. Her quizzes are confusing, you take quizzes where the potential answer can be a, b, or c but only one is correct. You read 60 plus pages a week on top of having a quiz, paper and assignment due all the same week.

Professor Adelman isn't the worst professor I've ever had; she cares about the subject matter and is involved in class discussions. However, she assigns a ridiculous amount of heavy reading and tries too hard to be overly academic. Test questions are abstract and confusing. I hope you have no other classes and no life... prepare to be overwhelmed.

Comment:
Adelman was possibly one of the worst profs I've had at ASU. She was hostile and condescending, and completely unhelpful when asked questions via email about papers and assignments. Her grading made no sense and she provided no insight as to why she graded the way she did.

Was scared to take this class bc I'm unfamiliar w/ subject but she made it very doable. Each week there's 4-5 articles to read, 1 or 2 chapters of the textbook (get an e-version if you can btw), and a quiz, w/ 4 writing assignments throughout. Instructions not always super clear, but seems willing to explain things if asked. Very fast paced class.

The feedback is often cryptic and the grading criteria is unclear. She loves to tell you that your writing is difficult to understand (though it may be the first time you have ever heard that). The TA introduced himself as a "tough grader" - jerk move. I loved the content, hated the delivery and grading. Prof is very available, though not helpful.

For me it was a tough class. Prof expects a great deal from term papers, which I believe the Prof is grading herself. Be ready to read a lot.

I do not recommend this teacher at all. She is condescending, opinionated, and expects students to be open-minded while she herself is hostile towards any opinions that are even slightly contradictory to her own. Her assignments are not clear, and she does not provide very good feedback. Stay away from this one.

I took Dr. Adelman for the first time last semester and I just loved it. Not only she was very crystal clear of what she wanted in the online assignments, but she also let you know what you needed from her feedback. I learned so much even though it was a fast 7 wk online class, and I would take her again. Just follow the instructions and get easy A

Hope you are a planner and organizer & have a few free weekends in your schedule. This course is poorly organized to balance heavy course load assignments. The reading is dense & boring, there is no stimulation in the the discussion boards. The 4 writing assignments are still due on the same weeks that you have read 60+ pgs, quiz, & discussion brd.

She seems very arrogant and condescending. Assignments are rarely clear and she will post due dates on the calender but has nothing on BB to describe the actual assignment. Very annoying.

Strict and professional persona, and class structure is very rigid. She's demanding but her grading structure has a ton of extra credit. Got an A-, but had to work harder than in most 300 level classes.

The exams were graded very strange in this class and were almost completely made up of essays, but overall the class was interesting.

She has a cold and highly professional demeanor which comes off as being condescending toward her students. She must know this will only make students weary of her yet she does nothing about it!? Nevertheless, she is passionate about her field, is a skilled lecturer and has no difficulty helping students learn.

Obviously she has gotten better over the years. She is very nice, an easy grader and passionate about her work. At 1st she came off rude but given time is very nice and helpful. Listens to our concerns and addresses them. Grades and returns assignments quickly, and she just won an award for teaching nominated by her students so that says something.

The worst professor in America... By far... Take her class if you enjoy punishment and want to hear her talk about nothing. She hates when someone challenges her views and is EXTREMELY Condescending. Like the other person said... AVOID HER LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! If you signed up for her class GET OUT NOW!!!!!
