This teacher is a very nice lady, but her class was way too hard for someone who does not know spanish! her tests are extremely hard and i was in class every day and still was confused about alot of things. Your grade in the class is mainly based on your test scores also.

I have never taken spanish before but I feel like I learned a lot even thought it was a pre-rec. Don't need to go to class as long as u learn the vocab in your textbook. Tests are easy if u study and they are curved. I would def. take her again!

Martha is an incredible woman. She acts like you are her own child. If you ask her a question she will try to help you understand, and she is always available in her office. She speaks to you in spanish so you get practice, but her tests are extremely difficult. Fortunately she does grade on a curve and you will probably get a C even if you got an

I've heard good things about the OTHER female spanish professor. 20 and better (out of 100) on the tests was a C (it was curved-what does that tell you about the teacher? The WHOLE class couldn't have been slacking..) I really wanted to LEARN, but she's not very clear. I learned a lot of vocab, but can't put most sentences together correctly.

Not a good teacher. Gives very few instructions and notes. Goes over large amounts of homework without ever really explaining anything. Tells you that you NEED the textbook, but you really only need to buy the workbook. Don't take her, unless you have an unlimited amount of time to TEACH YOURSELF.

I went with Martha Evans to Spain and had a wonderful time. When some students had a little too much to drink, she spoke with everyone as if she was their mother and wants everyone to be safe. If you have to opportunity to study abroad, do it! Very easy class, little to no studying, and opportunity to meet other students from Palomar.

In my honest opinion this is the worst teacher I have ever had in college. As others have stated she seems to relish making students uncomfortable. She has a cold personality and is easily angered. When confronted with this everything else in the learning environment is diminished.

She is a great teacher, yet a little bit monotone. She will go at your speed and encourages class participation. You are expected to complete hw before class and will go over all homework. Tests are semi-hard because she is strict about knowning where accents are and she will mark you off for not having them. If you study you will do great.

Best Spanish teacher around. Her SPAIN study program was wodnerful and helped me a bunch. It was such a good experience for me. I wish I could go again this year if I wasn't transferring. But I am sure glad that I had an opportunity to go. He Spain Study Abroad program is the best way to learn the language, the culture and earn credit :)

Good teacher, before Martha I had a hard time understanding spanish... but she makes things clear and her tests aren't that hard if you pay attention and do the workbook. If you are interested in actually learning spanish, take her class :)

She talks forever! She goes on about something that isn't important. But, she's very good at explaining things and you really learn spanish and she teaches very well. DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK! Only buy the workbook. You have homework almost everyday but it's not a lot and it really helps you learn. Her tests aren't hard as long as you do the homework

Profesora Evans es muy exigente. She is probably "the" best teacher for language majors. If you want to learn spanish take her for 101 and get a solid foundation. Not so good if you are just looking to fill requirements or just to pass. She does care about her students but will not let them off easy. You will have to work hard in order to pass.
