The course description sums up this class perfectly. You'll use VM Ware to create real networks using virtual machines. You'll use almost all of the Windows OS's & Server 2003 & 2012. Each lecture will follow the textbook and you'll take screenshots of your work to provide to the teacher weekly. This class is all about Windows networking.

Martin's exceptionally patient and will always helps students as needed. Coursework follows CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certifications. You'll use exam preparation books instead of textbooks (very inexpensive). I'd recommend pursuing certification after the class considering the amount of information you'll already be covering.

Comment:
Parks is amazingly patient and will at any point stop to help anyone struggling, but at times it makes class slow down a bit. He also sometimes zones out troubleshooting a problem on his own computer that leaves the class wondering whats going on. Very knowledgeable, he's been in the computer field since it started. Beware of Linux... It's all CLI

Martin seems to be a well kept CS secret. He tries to keep up with the latest and is very easy to communicate with. Overall he's very patient with his students and a kind person. The class is part open forum, part lecture and mostly hands on and recommended.

His class is more of a public forum then a class. If someone brings up a subject relating to computers we will research it as a class. The ABC tests are easy (you get multiple tries.) No homework! Free operating systems! You should practice at home with virtual machines, and try to reconstruct what you learned in class. ABC tests are 100% of grade!

Class structure is very user oriented and accomodating for students with issues regarding the materiel. Always willing to assist struggling students with coursework and activities. He was truly a professor to reccomend for Networking students who are either starting out, transfering in, or students interested in learning aspects of PC networking.

He did a great job for the first semester of teaching physics (usually he teaches computer networking). It's a pretty easy class, but to get an A you still need to do homeworks and study material. Don't wait that "introduction to physics" will be so easy. It's almost as difficult as phys 151, just without calculus part.

Mr. Parks knows the subject but doesn't seem as interested in teaching as he used to be.Lectures aren't as intersting, he reads from the slides and book which I can do at home.Lectures to supplement the material would be better along with some enthusiasm. His assistant is helpful, and HOT!

Very knowledgeable about subject and will cover some areas which are not covered in the coursework because it is applicable to the real world. Topic is quite challenging but he wants students to understand each area before moving on. Likes to problem solve. Best teacher for teaching computers. He really knows his stuff.

Martin has made it very easy to follow along his class. He does not mind when you need to go back in his lecture because something is still confussing and you have a question. He also listens to everyones opinion and comments which are not disregard when they conflicts with his teaching.

Mr. Parks continues to set an example of what a teacher should be. He is very knowledgeable about what he teaches and is upfront about what he doesn't know. He is genuinely concerned that all his students know the material before moving on. He is the only teacher I would ever take a CIS class from.
