Comment:
Dr. Romanets is by far the worse professor I've ever had. Her lectures are disorganized and she is downright rude. She criticizes or mocks students for their comments in class and then gets annoyed when no one talks. She also sneers at people who have a difficult time with the readings and doesn't offer help.

Comment:
Dr. Romanents has an acquired taste to her, she can come off a little strong and snarky at times, but when you are attentive, she warms up quickly and becomes one of the most phenomenal people to go to for feedback. I very much enjoyed her choices of novels, however her lectures lack organization, you have to work hard in her class.

Comment:
The books she chose have made me not want to read Modernist literature again. The lectures were so dry that half the class skipped the majority. Missed one class? Probably a pop quiz on that. Readings were not structured whatsoever so you'd end up binging a novel the night before class. Her accent makes it a bit hard to understand.

Dr. Romanets is a very good teacher. She knows her stuff! Out of all the teachers I took this past semester she gave me the most helpful feedback on my papers and was the most understanding with any issues with assignments. I love her sense of humour, though her lectures can be a little dry and she can move quickly through complex subjects.

You get used to her accent, although it makes it hard to tell when she's making jokes. She's incredibly smart and knows her stuff. She has a habit of calling people out to answer questions and then cutting you off midanswer and summing up what you'd said totally wrong-making your point look stupid. Interesting class but she isn't the best.

I couldn't understand her accent. Very wordy powerpoint. She's funny, but also rude if you're easily offended. She gives very poor marks, but has no feedback and tells you that all-in-all it was great work. If it was great, why was the mark 72-85 percent? Frustrating. Refuse to take another course with her.

Romanets is one of the smartest people I've ever met. She can be intimidating if you don't bother doing the readings and the assignments, but if you take the effort to learn your stuff, conversations with her in class and out can be inspirational. Do the work and don't shirk and she grades fairly. The hardest but most rewarding class I ever took.

Comment:
Her extremely thick accent is irritating to hear for an hour and a half straight. She will ask us a question, and if we don't answer, she is rude. "Hello! Wake up!", and "It's not a hard question, guys." I go to her lectures but they are terribly boring and I fight the urge to close my eyes.

At first I had a little difficulties understanding her accent, but she is a great prof. She knows her stuff, and I was a little surprised at her good sense of humor. She is a very fair marker, and flexible- she understands that as a student you have more than just her class in the semester.

She is easy to understand, she just pronounces things differently. She grades you fairly, and if you have a problem with your grade, she is willing to listen to your side and more often than not, she gives you the marks you think you deserve. She is interesting and approachable. If you don't understand anything she is completely willing to discuss.

Literally one of the reasons why I abandoned the English department three years into a BA. She embodies everything I can't stand about how profs act in that discipline. I'm so glad I switched majors! She did cut me some slack and pass me even after I lost all interest in the class, though.

Don't even think about it. Do yourself a favour. Take another class. With someone else. Seriously. Yes, she has a terrible sense of humour, cannot speak proper English, horrible at responding to students. But the worst part is she is so unclear with what she wants, especially exams.

Worst. Prof. Ever. Can't speak a word of English. Gets angry when no one answers questions yet is condescending and rude when students answer. Doesn't answer student questions in class, literally IGNORES questions. Also marks grammar incorrectly on term papers! I'm a high B, low A student and I just barely managed a pass. Avoid !!!

One of the worst professors. She is so mean to people who talk in class, and then is upset when people don't answer questions. It is stupid to be taught English by someone who uses words like "Bestest"

Oh.My.God. I would rather kill myself by inflicting paper cuts then take another class with her. If you do not agree with her, you will get the smack down. I used to like ENGL until I had her as a prof. She is not clear in what the expectations are for assignments. Her final was evil. I am an A student and managed to only pull a C in that class.

Women's Lit fall 2007 -- great class!! Dr. Romanets led in depth discussions on assigned readings. Wish I could take British Lit with her next semester.
