Best math teacher I've ever had. If you want step by step instructions & a teacher who loves his subject, then Mike is the teacher for you. He wants you to do well. If you ask for help, he's happy to give it.

Comment:

Michael is a great instructor! Always willing to go the extra mile to help you out, you just have to ask. He does daily handouts and works through the material in class, so that is very helpful to refer to when doing HW. He spends his office hours in the tutoring center which is also great! Offers good EC opportunities close to finals too.

All I can say is, I had a very poor experience in his class. I don't trust his grading and a majority of the time his answers were wrong. The way he explains things is so confusing and boring.

Comment:

Only teaches 095 and 111 most of the time. Just went back to teaching because of the economy. But he is so patient. I finally understand math, at the college level and that is huge. He is so awesome and cares about you and your grade. Test corrections allowed and notes. No homework from the book.

Comment:

Gives great notes and goes over everything on them. Goes off on tangents about random stuff but it's funny. His tests can be hard IF YOU DON'T study. You can have notes and he gives like 3 reviews. Homework from the book is never turned in. Rather a homework sheet he creates. He is always in the tutoring center for help and will meet with you if you have a busy schedule. Really great guy. Used to be the head of math at U of O!

Mr. Bowers is a good teacher. He gives handouts for notes, homework was assigned but not graded. He also gives Quests, which are a combo take-home quiz/homework that are graded. His grading is easy. You are allowed a page of notes on tests, and you can make test corrections after the test for 50% more credit on questions that were missed.

Best math teacher I've ever had! I took receives 5 years of math in high school, up through calculus, and have never had a better instructor. He took the class at a great pace. Homework isn't required, but is a big help because he has scheduled quizzes as well as his midterms. Explains things clearly and always has time for students!

Mike is a good teacher. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Way more information to go over than time to go over it. He always runs out of time before giving you all the info you need. Hard to say if this is just the course structure, or bad time management. He is very passionate, and really knows the material.

Instructor is hard to keep up with in class partly because there is so much material to cover. He is generous with his office hours and patient when explaining concepts. Visit him during office hours before you get lost!

He has a boring voice and gets going on the history of math and then does not have time to teach you what you need to know. He gets behind and then expects you to learn it on your own. He is helpful though when he has time. Fairish or grading lets you redo tests but not the final, he grades that on a curve.

He's a nice guy and genuinely wants you to succeed but he can be confusing at times and will often go off topic a bit. There is very limited class time and he spends too much of it going over previous homework questions, so we don't learn the new stuff, which becomes the next day's homework questions. =/ vicious cycle.

Awesome instructor. Uses analogies to make math make sense to those who don't understand the concepts being presented! If you stay on top of the homework, it is very manageable. He allows notecards for tests! In class reviews give great preview to exam requirements! He loves math and does this in his "spare time". Highly recommended!!

Mike was one of my favorite teachers! I had him for 60, 70 and 95. I barely passed all of them, but that wasn't his fault. He tried everything short of taking my tests himself. He is soft spoken but confident made sure you knew how to use the calculators very well! I would always recommend him!

Mr. Bowers is a GREAT instructor. He has a sheet of notes pretyped for evreybody for evrey indiv. lesson. He is very patients and nice. He has years exp. as a math teacher so he knows what is and is not effective teaching. A + instructor!
