Whole class is graded by weekly quizzes based on reading the book, and a midterm/final exam. He drops 3 lowest quizzes. Some readings are longer than others, but necessary to read to pass. Midterm and final are based on lectures, not readings. Provides a lot of extra credit opportunities.

Great professor, super passionate in his field of study. Has quizzes weekly but they are not difficult if you read the required books. They are not textbooks, and they are interesting reads. I thought I knew WWII history but we got in depth details about things I have never even heard about. Great class, even during the great corona pandemic.

Amazing professor, passionate about what he teaches and gives detailed descriptions of WW2. I learned a lot of history about WW2 that I did not know previously even though I consider my self reasonably knowledgeable in WW2 history. Gives many out of class opportunities for extra credit as long as you just show up to class.

Easy class. There are weekly quizzes from the book readings which are pretty easy if you actually read it. There are multiple extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. The exams are very easy. The lectures can be boring but overall the class is an easy A.

Makes learning history enjoyable. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit and there will be reading quizzes but as long as you actually read the book you will do fine bc they're easy. One of my favorite profs I've had so far.

Prof. Leifert is very passionate about this topic (the Holocaust) and it shows in his lectures, he may sometimes get carried away as you may not even write a single note down sometimes during a lecture. Overall, he's a good professor, daily book quizzes and two tests with numerous extra credit opportunities, requires effort but overall solid class.

Long lectures but always kept it interesting with funny jokes. A lot of quizzes based off of the reading in the two books. Tough class but if you enjoy the topic then take this class. Leifert is a great professor.

I hated him at the beginning of the semester, but after I talked to him about my paper, he gave me a lot of usable advice. His class is difficult for students who speak English as a second language because he takes off points from your paper due to the grammar. But I like his lecture and he is a very interesting man!

He's probably one of my favorite professors. The lectures can be boring, but the midterm and final examinations are easy if you make the effort to study. ATTEND his class. If you are a borderline grade at the end of the semester, he will bump it up based on attendance.

He gives very few graded assignments, but there is a 5 question multiple choice quiz once a week based on readings. Readings can be pretty long but if you read it over once you'll know all the answers easily.

Class is test heavy bc it is usually such a large class, but his study guides are LITERALLY the test and there are never any curve balls. Make sure you do the hw & read thoroughly bc quizzes can be tricky sometimes, but he drops the lowest two. Attendance isn't mandatory, but can be a factor at the end of the semester if you need an extra point.

you have to read the textbooks, but readings fun and edifying so your a hater if u don't want to tbh. very much worth it to take this class, not a hard class if u have an attention span at all and Professor Leifert is probably the best lecturer I've ever had.

Overall a good teacher. Reasonable performance expectations with a heavy weight on the reading quizzes in class. He is very knowledgable and passionate about the topic but he does get unreasonably political from time to time which can be irritating. Would definitely recommend this teacher if you are looking for an interesting history class.

Absolutely take this class and this prof. He's such a character and loves his topic. I've never liked history but I loved his class. He's straightforward in his expectations and will work with you to make sure you pass if you need. Readings were only for Tuesdays in my class for a 5question quiz and then lectures every class. Everyone should take

Very interesting movies, mainly Holocaust-based. 3 small reflection papers from movies shown in class (you pick). A comparison paper of 2 movies. A term paper about a book (that he picks) & movies. Really relaxed person. He really likes good writers & participation. Basically, you watch a movie, have a discussion on it in the next class , & repeat.

Awesome class overall, very down to earth and is willing to help if you communicate with him. Various 1pt extra credit opportunities, wish there was more points in the semester though. If you show up to almost every class he is more likely to bump up your grade at the end of the semester if you are close. Tries to be funny

Mr. Leifert is hands down one of the greatest professors within the Penn State system. He takes the time to ensure that his students understand the historical significance and complexity of the Holocaust. His lectures are phenomenal and easy to remember. I would recommend this professor to every student who is given the opportunity to.
