Liked him as a person, hated his class. Be prepared to read long excerpts, followed by boring lectures. Your entire grade is based off of 3 papers, which have really hard topics. There are no other grades that help balance out your final grade. He expects perfect papers from a bunch of non-English majors. Do bad on the papers, fail the class.

I'm not going to lie. Dr. Wilson definitely intimidated me when I first took his class. That being said, I felt like I learned more from his class than nearly any other I took all semester. He's a tough grader, but provides really excellent feedback and is willing to work with you as long as you put in the effort. He actually makes you think.

Dr. Wilson is probably the best professor I've ever had. He cares about teaching and it shows. He is serious about what he assigns because he wants to facilitate great class discussions. Paper writing matters, but he is very willing to edit your drafts and help you succeed. He makes you work for your grade. His guidance has been invaluable.

Dr. Wilson is willing to put as much into you as you put into his class. If you go to him for help he will help you. It is important to show an effort. He does grade hard. BUT is willing to edit papers before due dates. Even if you are not good at participating, if you make it clear to him that you care about the class, your grade will display it.

Dr. Wilson will not baby you. He will say point-blank that you're wrong, and he's pretty sarcastic. But once you get to know him, he is kind, funny, and wickedly smart. He's tough, but you'll learn more from him than anyone else on that campus. Put in the work, it's worth it.

Dr. Wilson is one of the hardest teachers I ever had, but also is the only teacher I have had in college so far who pushed me to develop better writing skills. He expects a lot but he also gives you a lot of room to revise papers. Very understanding even though he seems very cold. Thought I was in over my head with him, ended up with an A

One of the best professors at PSH. People on here say they don't like him because he isnt an ass kisser trying to get good srte's. He really makes you think about the readings and asks questions that demand students to make intellectual leaps. It's challenging and it is truly a beneficial class no matter what you want to do with your career.

hard to recieve a high grade from him if you are not from an English-spoken country.Lot of assignment including posting almost every week and an essay every 2 weeks, both based on about 40 pages reading.

I was frustrated at first, too, but that was mainly due to the already pointed out "confusing" writing prompts for writing assignments that don't mesh with his instructions after assignments are submitted. But Dr. Wilson was willing to work with me to take my work further, and I appreciated that.

Very confusing. Was excited about this course; he destroyed that. A limited curriculum driven by way too much reading. I learned a lot, but that will invariably happen when you have to read so much. His assignment instructions on paper don't match up with what he really wants. Extremely frustrating. My hard work has only been bashed. Disappointed

I hope Professor Wilson reads this. Wilson has a lazy style. He does not grade at all during the semester. Instead, he waits till the very end to grade one portfolio. A "good" student can expect a C. As an all A student, I certainly regret taking his class. Thanks to him, my GPA was destroyed. I did everything I was supposed to do and more. Avoid!

Best teacher I've ever had. Very intelligent, taught me more than any other teacher. I could never be any kind of teacher without having taken his class. Work hard, it is worth it. Only teacher I have had who asks questions that take some time to think about. Penn State is lucky to have him.

Wilson is a very hard professor, however, he is also one of the few people on campus that will make a student grow beyond his or her current level of understanding. His classes are discussion heavy and while it may seem he does not agree with others opinions he is only trying to get them to explain their ideas in greater details.

Excellent discussion, but too much of grading dependent upon participation. If you are a really good analytical writer, you will be disappointed because he doesn't grade responses for content, just quantity. You need to be in top form on formal essays because he is very demanding. Gave me my first ever C on a paper and broke my 4.0 GPA.

So a lot of people think he doesn't help students in need; this is ridiculous. I had a B on his 1st paper & a D on the 2nd. I went to him for help on how I could make my papers better for the final portfolio, not only did he help me, we talked about out of class topics like children and family life. W/ his help I pulled off an A- He is a great prof
