Lovely lovely man. Really just wants you to learn. Super understanding if you're struggling. He LOVES the figure, and is definitely the man to go to if you want to learn to draw it. Class is chill, but the way its structured might not be for everyone.

One of the sweetest people you will ever meet, as a professor he is extremely helpful and knowledgable. Everything he does he does out of a genuine love for the craft and for sharing his passion for the arts with a sincerity that is unquestionable.

Nick is extremely annoying but your drawing skills will improve greatly even if you don't realize it. Class work and homework is the same every single week, save one assignment. It's a boring class but you'll be better at drawing by the end.

Nick genuinely cares about each student on a level I've seen from very few teachers in my life. The homework is nice; instead of banging out a piece a week, he just wants you to study from life for specific durations. Overall, the pacing of the class was such that I'd improved exponentially by the end without even realizing it. Nick rocks.

frustrating. most students like him for his babbling & cheesy humour. i had him 2nd sem. drawing., which focuses on anatomy, so it makes sense that he would bring students' attention to recording the human body as perfectly as possible. the course seriously isn't about "gestural" mark-making at all. he'll teach you well, but annoy you all the same.

Nick is nothing about gestural. He strongly wanted you to be able to draw well. Nothing about exploring but everything about how anatomically and spatially correct it was. I felt like I wasn't as free to do what I wanted.

Look, if you want to be an "artist" and make your little "art"... why don't you just do it from your parents basement? Nick Palermo gets down and dirty right away, like a true thug. You WILL LEARN how to draw gesturally, from the shoulder, like a f***ing animal, please believe it.

I had him for painting and drawing. He was pretty helpful in both classes. My only problem is that I feel that he makes everyone draw the same...Exactly like him. He is helpful, but his good intentions can be sometimes suffocating. I always found that the best drawing instructors show you how to see, they don't tell you how to draw.

There is nothing zen about this course. It'll be hard if you can't draw. the rambling isn't cute, its totally frustrating. I recommend asking your doctor for a prescription for paxil or some other anxiety medication before attending class.

You'll love him even if you hate draw/painting. Kind, gentle man with a very sincere, infectious enthusiasm for the subject. Methods are simple and concrete, he intones them like mantras and does all he can to make sure you truly understand. Almost a zen experience..punctuated by his crazy rambling.

Nick taught me how to paint. Taught the class how to use color and how to shade properly. He is an incredible instructor. his talent at painting and teaching make him hot. He is a brilliant and reminded me of woody allen.

SO GREAT. Never thought I could paint until his class. Super enthusiastic, intelligent, constructive. Never seen a teacher so concerned about his students. Even Mills. Can't reccomend him enough. (He's also clinically insane, but in the good way)

Be careful, this class will be hard. Its entirely excercise based. But if you stick to it, the results are amazing. I draw at lightning speed now and have such a greater understanding about seeing our world. Nick is also very personable. He cares so much for his students. he's quirky and kind.
