Comment:

If you want a class where you are a passive learner, she is not for you. I found her to be incredible. She teaches using the methods she's encouraging you to use so you may see the benefit of it. Secondly, she brings in resources for you which you can use in your teaching career. That kind of thing is invaluable when you are just starting out!

I love this woman. If you think this is a course where you can attend and just sit by and get an A you're mistaken. But if you're willing to listen to what she has to say, and take it to heart, you can get a lot out of her classes. She teaches you using the methods she's describing. Participate and LEARN!

Class was painful to sit through. provided no guidance for assignments and cannot answer a question clearly. She does not prepare you how to teach social studies. picks favorites, awful. I hated this course.

Worst prof I have encountered at MUN in 5 years. She clearly shows favoritism towards students. I looked forward to doing this course and it was a huge disappointment!

This prof is amazing. You can't just sit back & let the class pass you by though - participate, learn, be open minded, have fun... and you will get a lot in return. She doesn't play favourites, but seems to appreciate students who are engaged in the material and who think for themselves. If you like interesting classes, you won't be disappointed.

She was okay. (FYI. She does like thoes who sit up front and talk.) She wasnt a hard marker, but i think that was about all the good she offered me. I came out of her class with no real understanding of how to teach Social Studies, its a shame because I understoof that was the point of the course. Maybe I am just missing something?

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing! Need I say more! If you ever take her, listen to the woman. Get past her funny rantings and listen to what she has to say. She has a lot of wisdom to pass on if you only begin to listen and stop whining.

An absolute joy! She really prepares you for what you are going to face in the classroom and she is so realistic. The perfect balance of theory and practicality. Perhaps if people would stop whining about her and actually listen to what she is saying... Very helpful and accomodating outside of class, just ask!

With this prof, you either love her or hate her. She really has a strong personality, but she doesn't pretend to be something she's not. It's great to have a prof who realistically prepares you for the classroom. She marks fairly and doesn't give out As like candy. I really enjoyed this course & would definitely take another course from this prof.

I believe it is sad that we are mercilessly crucifying our own here. I guess some of us need to grow up and realize that we will all be in the position of imparting our own bull_ and crap to other ungrateful venomous students who will be equally ignorant to our own efforts and wisdoms. March gave us true perspective I guess for some the truth hurts

Probably one of the best profs I've had so far at MUN. Really organized, amazing insights, ready to help anyone who asks. I think the people that have troubles with her are upset because she challenged them to think beyond their precious A's (GRADES AREN'T EVERYTHING), and made them work hard for their success. Would recommend her to anyone!

Well I think after that reponse she deserves to hear something good. I did find the class helpful, I took many things from this class. We were give many practical teaching tips that other professors have failed to do. This class has helped prepare me for what I will experience in the classroom. I think as future teachers we need to grow up a little

She is full of crap. And I bet you all know who is saying this. She's full of bull!!!! I can't stand the class and have learned NOTHING from her. Useless class, useless...she just talks about a bunch of 'stuff' that has nothing to do with social studies....retire girl and let us all out of our misery!!

One Word: Favouritism. Her, like most profs in education think lesson planning is so important, but look at a teacher's plan book, not much of a write up there and the outcomes are always met. Writing up long thematic units are absolutely pointless.

I did not talk, laugh or come late to her classes. I tried to learn how to teach social studies.....but wasn't successful at that until my internship (just like I figured). She had her favorites and ignored everyone else....would not recommend her!
