Wonderful person, always happy to help, but seems to think her class is the only thing you have on your plate. Gigantic workload. Long documentaries to watch and write essay responses to every week, plus long online tests, multiple books to read and papers to write, topped off with a huge fieldwork project at the end. This class WAS my semester.

I have Prof Buck for WS200 as well. She is a great teacher. Very knowledgeable in her field. Won't let you get by with half-a$$ing your work. Really makes you think critically about everything you've ever known about society. Would highly recommend any of her classes!

At first i would never recommend her, however, as the class came to a close I was very happy I stuck with her. She may be one-sided in her lectures but the discussions allowed me to grow personally. She gives a lot of reading and sometimes I felt overwhelmed. She allows you to views differently. The name of the class is not what the class is about.

SUPER easy class if you're a card carrying socialist. She's VERY left sided but a very good teacher. She honestly tries to accommodate all students. Don't take her if you hate reading or don't have the type. There are hundred of pages to read a week.

She's very knowledgable, but not interested in any other opinion but hers. Her goal is to educate you in the "real way the world works" so your eyes can be enlightened and you should thank her for this when she's done. Oh and she wrote her textbook, which means hers really is the only opinion in the room.

Great intro to world's social structure. Seemed to be aimed at educating White people about the struggles of minorities and of women hah. Weekly article reviews (used book a lot). 2 large papers. Smart, helpful teacher.

Its a pretty easy class. She has pretty extreme views of the world that can be somewhat offensive, especially if you consider yourself conservative. Suffering through is worth the grade though.
