He was useless. He is not even the kind of pro I wanted to learn from. Art Institute is not up to industry standards. They need to hire real professionals not wedding photographers. I could just intern for one and learn all this stuff. He goes off on tangents about photography so he could boast his own ego. I learn nothing from him.

He didn't make much sense. He was always loud and obnoxious and it makes it hard to understand him when we goes off on stupid tangents. I got an A but he got an F. His approach in teaching is very primitive.

Phil is not only a fantastic teacher but also a wonderful human being. He taught me more about lighting that I ever thought I could know and and taught me the fundamental of old scholl photography. Crop with your camera, not the computer. He is a 5 star teacher in my book, then and now

One of the best teachers I have EVER had. Extremely helpful and willing to help if you show you want it. He KNOWS his stuff so listen up and absorb all you can from him-you will end up being a better photographer after. Most imp. he won't let you slip by-you will meet his standards or you will know it!!

Had him for Principles of light and we clashed right away. Now, a year later i have him for 2 classes in the same quarter and i love it. he seems to have lightened up a little, and i have gotten a little more serious about photography. it's a good match.

Pray to God you get Phil as your teacher, he is the most honest one out there. He can tough as nails, but he knows a LOT about what he's doing. As long as you do your best, you will improve and go far in his class. He's hands-down my favorite teacher.

phil is the best. you love him for his personality. you hate him for his harsh comments. but you love him again for his honesty. phil is by far my favorite teacher in the photography department. he's willing to help you out as long as you show ambition and potential in your work. and as said before you cant take his comments too personally. more or less...listen to him, he knows what he's doing.

Can be very helpful but very intimidating. You either love each other or hate each other. Can belittle you, you need leather skin for his class and shouldnt take anything personal, but he can make it VERY personal.
