He doesn't teach. It is practically a self-study course. Read the book and memorize the practice exam and you will be fine. He is helpful though in office hours.

Jacoby simply does not teach. For me this was not a bad thing. The topic of Financial Accounting is a subject that is 95% self-taught and 5% assisted. The material gets a bit dense at the end but he teaches the class in a very standard way. He is not a terrible teacher and gives no HW but in order to pass any section you must have the willpower.

A lot of people complain about Jacoby, but he is a straight-shooter. He teaches directly along with the textbook, so there are no surprises and everything you do for this class will reinforce the rest directly. Good-natured and tries to bring humor to a dry topic. Offers practice exams that very closely match the actual exams given.

Ok... this is a class that you will be extremely scared to in the beginning but if you read the book and study by yourself, you will find it easy. Exams are not hard but you do have to study a lot to get a good grade. He is very knowledgeble but starts his class without any type of introduction. A lot of self-teaching and you will be fine.

It's a boring class but he's knowledgeable. Be prepared to study a lot. SI sessions weren't really helpful for me but helped some. Just because attendance isn't mandatory doesn't mean you should skip class. Learn how to do problems QUICKLY. His pro forma practice tests are really helpful. Make sure to study the multiple choice in the book too.

Professor Jacoby is very knowledgeable and experienced. I took auditing during the summer and it was tough to cover all that material in 6 weeks. He is tough to follow in class as well. I would suggest carefully reading the chapter summaries and practice the multiple choice questions as many times as you can.

Fin acct is a difficult course, prob the most difficult business core class. SO that means, you HAVE to come to class, pay attn, go to SI sessions, and probably stay up all night before the exams. Jacoby is really smart and you can learn a lot from his experience if you pay attn in class. Also it was nice to finally meet a prof from New England

Either you love Jacoby or you hate him. Personally, I found his lectures clear and his expectations straightforward. It was easy to ace the exams as long as you do the practice exams, which are almost perfect mirrors of the exams. Plus, there is SI for the class, which was really useful. Straightforward, no surprises. Didn't collect HW.

Prof. Jacoby is a very smart man. You have to make the commitment to showing up to class in order to do well. Homework not mandatory, but you gotta read the book to do well. Practice his pro-forma exams many times over and you'll have no problem with the exams. Not that bad.

Material is hard in any financial accounting class...nice guy but his classes were soo boring. Easily could fall asleep in class. Must study hard for midterm and final but those are the only grades. Gives review exams that mirror the tests. Three homeworks throughout the year that he gives the answers for. Mandatory class but he will give help.

Great professor with lots of experience and knowledge. He drops low grades if he sees significant improvement over the semester. Very helpful at office hours. Makes class time fun and worthy--do not skip class. Doesn't check homework but to do well YOU MUST DO THE HOMEWORK. SI sessions aren't particularly helpful if you really know the material.

Decent professor, really knows his stuff, and happy to help if you need. Has a tendency to keep pushing through a topic even if some people have questions. It is a difficult class and to do well you NEED to do the homework (most of it is not graded). Doesn't care if you come to lectures, but you won't do well if you don't. SI sessions help a LOT.

Jacoby expects students to do a lot of work outside of class, but this is no different from any other acct Professor. To do well, you must show up to each lecture even though its not mandatory. Jacoby is a really smart guy, but going to SI helps with reinforcing the concepts. overall, i highly recommend him- ask him about his convertible truck.

You have to be your own teacher. He goes over the homework that obviously no one has done. His lectures will put you to sleep. But he always gives a sample exam which is more or less what you need to know. You need to read all the chapters and do the problems your-self to get a good grade.

This is the best professor I've had at AU. He is very smart, funny, and makes a very tough class easy to understand. Most people take 240 because they have to. Jacoby makes a mandator class so much more bearable than many Gened professors. I highly recommend him and would take every accounting class with him.

jacoby is a great professor and those who have complaints just do not do the little work that is asked of them. Technically would can skip taking a mid-term with no penatly if you like. Great prof. and those whom i know trhat disagree are either lazy or apathetic.

Very difficult class. First two tests not that bad but final was rediculous. I would avoid this professor if possible, he seems to be the most difficult. His lectures are also very boring and pointless for the most part.
