I really liked the course. We met at the end of the day and it was a great closer. Always looked forward to Mon & Wed afternoons. Super teacher - older than my dad, but hot.

He is the BEST teacher I had the ENTIRE time I was at the Claremont COlleges. Very helpful and uses excellent books, he uses wonderful videos, and great concerts. Truly an inspired, inspirational teacher and a WONDERFUL CLASS. Need I say more? YOUR ROCK PROFESSOR GRATZ!

One of my favorite music courses. Gratz is really a nice guy, and a wonderful musician. If you don't go to his concerts and you don't participate in class, you will not do well. He is a fair grader and it is possible to get an A if you do the work. And his class is interesting.

I took this class thinking it would be easy, but anyone who says it is easy is CRAZY. His tests are difficult they made me want to cry--which is ironic, because music is supposed to be fun. But he is into small details and I just could not follow him. Not too many papers/tests, but grades very harshly.

Loves to teach and can be engaging because of it. But his class is poorly organized. Very easy. Lots of films of live performances. Mandatory attendance at 3 jazz concerts. Papers are generally reaction papers.
