Comment:

He stated the first day of class that he wanted to be the greatest instructor I'd ever have. A year later I'd say that he did indeed deliver. He till this day inspires me to do better in every possible aspect. I don't really use the geology material but his causality lecture is something I use daily. The course was indeed very profitable.

Professor Balogh was an awesome professor. He focused his class on thinking, so even if your answer was wrong, he would give partial credit if you could defend your answer with critical thinking. I took him for two classes and he was the best professor I had at AVC.

Easiest class I have taken. If you get a question wrong on a quiz he will work with most and give you credit. Definitely a must to go to class. Quizzes are easy and the final is over class notes. He tells you what is on the final.

This class was interesting. Mr Balough is a good teacher. He started a new teaching technique with this class and you can tell he wasn't completely polished with the new method. But he tried to work with all the students and seemed very knowledgeable and excited about geology. The last 6 weeks of class Mr. Coffman took over.

This was the most interesting, awesome class I have taken yet! Geology is not my major...but he kept me interested the entire semester. I recommend this teacher to anyone! I even kept the textbook and my notes!

Amazing teacher. Explains things really well and gives you the answers to tests. Show up every class and take notes and study and you should get an A. Only homework is online open book quizzes. Pay attention and show up because participation is 20% of your grade

Amazing teacher! You MUST do your homework and study for the exams, but they are easy! He explains everything well and has a nice sense of humor. Be there EVERYDAY since 55% of the grade is in class. Keep an open mind, be sweet to him and laugh at his mild jokes, you will have a great time.He loves science and Geology, so thats a plus! A+ teacher!

This is one of the best professors out there. He encourages students to use logic to succeed rather than try to make them meomerize the material. He explains clearly until everything is properly understood. It is recommended you attend class because if not your clicker scores will go down, however if you actually pay attention in class <A+

anyone that says this teacher is hard is BS. quizes are based on chpt reveiw q's and you get to use them for the quiz. tests are based upon q's that he gives you about two weeks prior to the test and he chooses roughly 3-4 of those q's and you answer them. and even still, if you prove a ? was unfair/difficult he will give credit or throw out the ?

He talks alot but its good, hes a tad contradicting but hey whatever, he's direct on homework & questions to study for on test!! & you must be in clss every day it meets its vitial 55% of your grade vitialgrades on a scale whic is good & hes a tad off but what science teacher isnt... trust me just take him!!

I revieved a final grade last semester (spring 2011) of 104%. He grades on a curve, so that probably made it hard for others... sorry. But I LOVED Mr. Balogh. He was a great teacher & I remember the material. I will take him again ASAP. What I liked was his unconventional thinking. As for the difficulty level of the class-- reasonable.

Very Good Teacher. I am not neccesarily into this subject and he made it fun to learn about. I tested high I believe the highest in class because I took the advice he gave in his 1st lecture. Also he truly enjoys teaching, and it's obvious.

He does explain things pretty well, you do have to buy a book because most of what he talks about is not on the homework. The tests were kind of hard, he's a bit of a christain fundamentalist, its a little annoying.

I don't get why people are complaining. He gives you flash cards, so if you keep up with them the tests are super easy. I got A's all throughout. I did take it online though. Maybe that makes the difference?

this class was ok i end up getting a c. but it was my fault i didnt study for test. attendance isnt really mandatory but u should go because u get class points. u take quizzes online they r easy. u have the 3 test which cover about 6-7 chapters so study. funny moments but mostly boring.he does help so ask questions he doesnt make u feel dumb :D

he is the worst geology teacher! very hard & incomprehensible. He should take classes to be a better teacher...so that his students actually pass his course, its ridiculous that 3/4 fail his exams!!!

This teacher is the worse in geology. I had to drop his class cuz it was so hard and the test were hard. 7 ch. in one test. Don't take this teacher cuz ur gonna end up dropping his class.
