Homework is a single page, double spaced response paper to the readings. Usually only one a week. Tests are based entirely off lectured material and information from the readings. Only three tests, they counted for the majority of the class. Lectures were incredibly interesting, and he realized we needed a break every class and gave us one. A+ prof

if you are going to be in his trombone studio you have to do the work, as simple as that, i was in for a few semesters, and i put in work, but i barely skated by, he knows EVERYTHING there is about the horn, and his ear is better then your iPhone tuning app, so only come if you're ready for 2-3 hours of daily practice! He is pretty chill, though

Great class & good teacher. Can be a little confusing w/ what he writes on the board, but overall a good educator. Initially, the testing format appears hard, but after the first test, you learn the format & it actually becomes easier than other art history classes. I got a "C+" on 1st test; "A+" as my final grade. take notes, study;HW not nec.

A nice professor who loves what he teaches and is glad to help. Class can be hard, so pay attention to slides, take ALOT of notes, participate, study, & go to EVERY class or you will miss info that will be on the exams (he takes attendance). 4 exams with slide IDs, terms, dates, etc, and one 4 page museum paper. Forgets info sometimes. Got a B+

lectures are not organized & he goes off on tangents, its not clear what material will be tested & he is hard to understand. tests on the most random things & has no real grading structure for papers with no explaination to the grade or grading scale. avoid he's a hassel to impress.

Prof. Mason has an unusual personality, but he can be very amusing at times. He's a nice guy, but very lazy as a prof. He relied too much on showing us videos instead of teaching, so I really didn't learn much in this course. His lectures were confusing and unclear in what the main points were. Tests were easy, but paper assignments were frequent.

Well,he's a very nice guy and seems very much into art, but his final exam was just awful. Half the slides were not in the book and there was other stuff that I didn't remember from class at all.Overall, he was all right, though.

Exams are predominantly based on in-class slides which are not in the text so they are difficult to memorize. You think you passed the exam until you get it back and it's an F and at that point it's too late to drop. I hated this class.

VERY bizarre ... Seems to expect that the students have worked as professional archaeologists. EXTREMELY disorganized lecturing style.

What can you get by attending every class, taking notes, doing the readings, and studying painfully long for exams? Why, a lovely and well earned 'D' of course! He expects students to be at his level of proficiency. Cool material, horrible professor.

This class was freshman level and I got a C!! It was so hard, and he is very much into greek mythology. He actually gets excited when he speaks about it.
