Comment:
I had him during COVID-19, which cut time off. He won't grade you for having a different opinion. But for the 2/3s of the class in person, he definitely opened my eyes to seeing new perspectives. We were originally going to have 4 papers, and a presentation. However I convinced him otherwise, and we had 2 papers and participation grade.

Comment:
He is extremely boring. I failed all of the tests, even when I took it with two other people in the class. He curves the tests but I still got C's or lower on them. The tests are EXTREMELY unfair in the way they're set up, it's all luck. I have passed all of the papers with flying colors though. DO NOT take this class if you don't have to.

Exams were online, multiple answer multiple choice. Very challenging. Lecture is boring, and he is very quiet. Very nice professor though

Comment:
I think the negative comments are exaggerated. I'm not a disciple of his by any means. Of course this means our views aren't completely compatible. BUT, he is not that guy who will grade you for really expressing your own thoughts; even if what you express goes against his area of interest. He is not dogmatic and flexible when someone disagrees.

Great professor, goes over everything in his in class lectures and notes but leaves the most part of work to your opinion and interpretation of the material. Although dull and hard to read at times but utilizing online translations will go a long way.

HORRIBLE. Extremely boring, unfair grading of exams. IF you can keep up with the readings, DON'T go to class. If you have the chance, avoid this boring and unfair professor at all costs.

Richardson, in my opinion, is the worst teacher at the University of Cincinnati. He simply reads off slides and hardly covers any of the material that he quizzes you over. Please for the love of your god, avoid this class.

Ok the class was really dry and boring. Everything revolved around discussion and I was not really into the topic. There were only 3 papers and daily 3 pt. quizzes, so it was easy. But the 1 hr and 15 minutews in there twice a week almost killed me. Nice guy, but boring.

Comment:
Bob relied on discussion. And yes, as another poster said, sometimes others' quasi-philosophical views and fallacious arguments got in the way of actual philosophy. But the course was interesting and not too difficult. I recommend it and him.

Just go to the class and take notes, and you will be fine for the exams. Dont read the textbook too much, since it confuses you even more! He explains stuff clearly and exams are fair as well.

Don't miss lectures! Also, don't believe the syllabus when it says you can revise a paper--only revisions were for grammatical mistakes and then only when your TA told you to. Recitations are important for understanding concepts for exams and papers.

Overall, Richardson is a decent professor, though not without problems. Relies much too heavily on discussion format, allowing students to express their philosophically amateurish views ad nauseum. Grades fairly, explanations of moderate clarity.
