worst teacher, so hard. wouldn't even but in grades online, made us calculate it on a paper. hardly talked about anything in the chapter then the test was only 20 questions so if you got one wrong your screwed. this is the only class ive ever had to drop because it was so hard and he was not considerate

The code of the class I took was not an option. It is PS492/693: Nonprofit Management. Dr. Althaus often gets a bad reputation at SEMO, but he is a great professor. He is super engaging in his lecture and always understanding of questions. He is quick to get back to students emails. In my class we had no tests, just chapter reviews and papers.

I graduated in May 2017 and I had Dr. Althaus as my professor my last two semesters. When I first started the class, I was scared and ready to give up, but when I finished, I felt I could accomplish anything. Yes, he is the most difficult professor at SEMO; however, nothing good comes easy. He helped me get past my limit and I am thankful he did!

I really enjoyed his class. All you have to do is show up and then read the textbook. Quizzes every week over a chapter, 4 Test, and a final. I really like this style of teaching. He made the subject very easy to understand and was willing to help you out if you are struggling

The tests were very difficult. They were 25 questions each and the questions were obscure. Even rereading all the chapters in the book don't help. There is an online quiz every chapter, and they are easy and most of them are online.

Althaus is a great professor, but you MUST earn your grade. This class isn't a cake walk, as his tests require you to pay attention to lectures, read the homework, etc. Although it was hard, I'm glad I took this class with Althaus because it taught me academic skills, personal responsibilities, and study habits that are required in college.

Pretty good for the most part. He's strict but also fair. The quizzes are easy points but you have to do the reading to understand them. He encourages you to ask any questions you have and he will answer them. He gives you a schedule and a grade record so you always know what to expect. Overall, not a bad choice

Never take this man if you absolutely dont have to. Even if you have to, I would still wait for next semester to take this class. Anything that he says in class barley relates to the tests. He doesn't tell you when the few assignments that you have to do, are going to be due.

Does this really dumb thing where he wants people to read his mind when he asks a question to the class, calls on random people who have no clue what he is talking about, and treats college students like middle schoolers. DO NOT take this class with him.

I had to drop his class it was so bad. His rules and policies are out dated. If you're late, don't bother coming because he will embarrass you in front of everyone and make you sit in the front. His lectures are confusing and doesn't discuss chapter/test material very heavily. His test are meant to trick you. Avoid at all costs if you want to pass.

I wouldn't recommend taking his class. His lectures have no structureand don't relate to the chapter, only his random thoughts on the topic. His tests are conceptual and meant to trick you. His quizzes are over 40 page chapters. Only test and quizzes are mentioned in the syllabus not written assignments. Doesn't even calculate your grades. You do.

If you ask for help he will help you, but you will definitely have to earn your grade. He is very strict about Cell Phones, as in don't even think about having it out during class. I would not recommend taking this class.

I know nothing about politics and government so I didn't do that well in this class. I showed up everyday and studied for tests still didn't do too hot. Nice guy, but tests are difficult and can be tricky! Study days in advance!!! The only grades are test and quizzes. You get one worksheet the whole semester.

Althaus is the most ambiguous grader that I have ever encountered. Exams are extremely difficult and entirely essay (get those Blue Books!). When you ask him a question, he replies with "I don't know," including when you question his grading on an exam. Definitely do not take his class.

WORST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD! I strongly recommend taking someone else. He was not helpful at all. His notes made zero sense more than half the time. I dreaded going to this class. So do yourself a favor and take someone else.

He is very enthusiastic about what he teaches and is very knowledgeable, but his tests are near impossible to achieve an A on. His online quizzes were doable. His lectures did not have much to do with what was on the tests. Attendance is absolutely necessary and he is very strict about tardiness.

I didn't like Dr. Althaus at first, but I warmed up to him over the course of the semester and ended up liking him a lot. He does put a lot of focus on his own class with little consideration for your other classes, but it isn't all that hard to manage. The reading was the toughest part since he assigned at least one chapter a week.

He is completely full of himself , has a very rude attitude and thinks that his class is the most important class. He is a joke. His class is a pain. Avoid him if you can.
